Labour minister briefing earlier that the Green's undeliverable promises will let voters down. What is it that he thinks we all think about Labour's promises, i wonder...

I think Isak's carry on has been a psychological blow to the entire team, including supporters - so yes, I would say that it could absolutely be linked in some form.

I think our attack in general gets a pass for me because they're having to work out how to play with each other while dealing with games all season, and at the very least the left wing isn't being supported properly by a full back (I love Burn, but...). There might be a wider question mark around whether or not we have the right style of wingers to fit with Woltemade, though Gordon seems to think it can work well - though I fear a little that this is because he fancies himself more as a forward than a winger, and that he can play off Nick to score. I don't think he has the composure or killer instinct to be very good there. I still think it's just full back for me... we looked seriously alright earlier in the season when we were struggling to score but the team was competitive and strong otherwise. I'd love to see how we look when our core structure has returned to things. The margins on this stuff might be so fine that it really does make a difference. Longer term we need to look at replacing Murphy either way due to age so I'd be starting to scout around that outcome and it covers the possibility that Elanga just fails (I'm not saying he will). Midfield we should probably be looking for the next Tonali given the likelihood that we struggle to retain him. I'm assuming Ramsey is meant to be the Joelinton backup/replacement (correct me if I'm wrong) so we're probably ok there.

It's a perfectly fine answer if it's honest. It's not perfectly fine if she's been briefed to avoid enraging Trump. I don't really think it's on her either way mind, the fact that this country is kowtowing to the guy in the way we are is another example of why we should have been throwing in as equal partners with Europe, rather than as a vassal state with America.

Full back, probably right sided. We have Tino/Hall/Burn on the left which is serviceable, but we have Tino/Tripps/Krafth on the right which is not. Tripps can't cover every game at his age and we need a long term replacement to the 'backup/rotation' option there. I think that's probably it for this window. Longer term we may need to start looking at the wingers again but it's too early to be sure of that.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

Infantino will think precisely what Trump tells him to think. -
I felt like we were still pretty poor honestly. A win is a win but we were giving the ball away all over the place, they carved us open several times. That was closer to the West Ham performance than any time we've been 'good'. Nice to win of course but I can't wait until we're over whatever this weird moment is.

Possible, I imagine it's not long before they start using "grape" on that front given the way tiktok is taking over discourse.

Mamdani wins NY. A muslim, socialist mayor. Amazing result I can't wait for the bitchfit.

I am going to thoroughly enjoy that absolute meltdown if Mamdani wins. Both from the Democrats and the Republicans. I see Cuomo ran as an independent, just to ensure that insipid centrism was on the ticket one way or another.
-
The argument the Democrats are making is that there's no point trying until the midterms. Win those, then try to crush him in the normal way by outvoting his nonsense. But that's the democratic answer, not the constitutional one. The whole thing has revealed how weak the US constitution really is.

Every time someone posts in this thread, I've started dreading that WW3 has launched. The man is off his fucking rocker and needs to be removed, I know we all know this, I just don't understand how the Americans don't.
-
Yeah hard to argue with this - we've not done as much as should have been possible and whether that's Silverstone's fault or not, I'm all for changing it up to get better results.

Real Madrid, playing like that, would have lost to half the Premier League. Bellingend completely anonymous.

As true as this is, I'd take him back right now if you offered me him over Trump

I can't decide if I think it's sadder that they have the mural, or that they vandalised it. It's close.

Do you not get that thing where the body suppresses appetite first thing in the morning? Apparently it's a remnant of the hunter/gatherer age. I don't wake up hungry at all - I actually had to force myself to eat breakfast as a kid and it was always a struggle because I simply didn't feel hungry.

It's a percentage mind, so they'll have just been moving the thresholds around from which it applies, rather than raising the percentage itself. If you ask me, after all our austerity and privitisation, they should have been lowering it. We are now going to be paying more to get less.

I'm not impressed with any of this. I can't afford higher taxes, it makes everything I'm trying to do more difficult. I also resent paying for a calamity that we haven't confronted properly.
-
I'm wondering if the whole team is a bit jaded in general. Maybe the slog of the Premier League takes a toll year after year and it becomes harder to motivate yourself - especially when the bubble bursts a bit as it did this summer. You need to believe in your own fairy tale a bit to make it in anything.

My bad and fair. That away one against them was just after the Spurs and Man Utd away games though, both of which we won (as bad as they were) so I'm still sort of happy with asking what people think has changed. Either something has developed on our side or the whole league has found Howe out, I suppose are the arguments.
