  1. The diligence with which all of TT avoided commenting on this sealed the deal.
  2. If it helps with commercial income somehow then I've no issue with it. I'm sure they'll pick something decent.
  3. As an aside from my normal political views, this is a non-partisan view I have as well. Long term planning would absolutely make this country a better place. Every time someone mentions it I'm reminded of fucking Sunak when he was chancellor, claiming that he couldn't contribute 15bn to help kids catch up on lost learning time following Covid, despite being told that the long term cost to the nation of this loss to these kids would be 300bn or so. It's a prime example of this short termist nonsense that damages us constantly. We absolutely do need a better class of politician.
  4. For real. This is austerity. They're not calling it that, but it's what it is. This was what Labour wanted to do last time around too but lost out to Corbyn - it's why there was such a pushback then. In a way, we need people to be honest with where the country is - but no one can accept this because the honesty is selective. Yes, Labour, you can tell me that the country is fucked and has to do this - and I'll understand - but only if you're also very honest about how much worse Brexit has made this. Because if you're not prepared to do that, then I'm not prepared to accept very much of this at all, since no lessons are being learned.
  5. So it feels like Labour are forcing cuts and budget problems through the public sector and letting the chips fall where they will. How many people's lives are getting fucked up by this nonsense man.
  6. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgle2xkg3wpo NHS cuts: Services including diabetes care for young people, rehab centres and talking therapies are in the firing line, according to NHS Providers, which represents health managers. Staff, including doctors and nurses, also face the axe - and some NHS trusts are stopping overtime for doctors, putting the drive to cut the hospital waiting lists at risk.
  7. He's now getting a military parade for his birthday in true dictator style
  8. In fairness, if he's committed to pretending Brexit isn't a thing then this is all he can actually do. We get shafted by the US because we are a complete irrelevance trading on the last crumbs of our historical prestige. We are spent as a world player and need to either rejoin and contribute to guidance of the EU, creating a more powerful and cohesive international power - or remain isolated and diminish into at best a regional power that is middling top 20 on economy within the next 50 years, with declining living standards and brain drain into the continent. I don't think I'll ever stop being angry about Brexit. I feel humiliated by it.
  9. Apparently we exported 102k in 2024 so it's about par for what we do, but permits no growth. It's still going to be higher than it was either way though.
  10. So far this trade deal looks like a win for Trump to me. They're keeping tariffs in place on our goods, albeit not as high as originally suggested, and they've gained some concessions additionally to that. So our net situation remains worse than it was 6 months ago. I'm not celebrating that, Starmer. It's yet another fucking example of how insane Brexit was.
  11. So I've just read that apparently the deal was that the Vatican would not elect a US Pope until the Americans were in political decline. Is this one of the most subtle burns in history?
  12. Whether he's affiliated properly with the US or not, Trump is going to have some things to say about this Did they put tariffs on the Vatican by any chance..?
  13. Absolutely. Isak isn't the answer to Arsenal, they're too safe and pedestrian in the final third. He'd get nothing from them.
  14. Yes, you have to admit that that McCoist's argument of "no one appealed for it therefore it doesn't count" was rather optimistic
  15. Yeah the only thing stupid about that penalty was how much play carried on before it was given. Hand nowhere near his body and it would be a handball in the PL too.
  16. I'm sorry like but even Villa made a better go of it than that. Useless from Arsenal.
  17. That is a horrifying miss from Saka.
  18. These slow motion penalties man
  19. They really do need someone like Isak tbf Must be killing them to see him with us.
  20. We're still lagging a long way behind on commercial revenues tbh. And interesting that Villa have a higher wage budget.
  21. All good, used an unroll site to do it.
  22. I don't suppose there's a non twitter version is there? Since I left the platform it won't let me view nested posts, so I can only see the top one.
  23. In terms of that article though, it does sound positive. Someone needs to bloody create a strong left wing voice so I'm fully behind anyone that does. They need to find a way to ramp up their relevance though.
  24. My friend, I have given you a like. Valuable online currency.
