Labour never promised them anything. And yes, they're taking the piss. Give me 20 grand or whatever because we forgot to send you a letter explaining what was on the news. Boo fucking hoo.
-
They'll need to boycott it and travel from Leeds/Bradford I guess. It's still funny watching them get into a stew about fuck all.
-
"Ay, right then, let's just stick to the elfies ken?" Have to say the Selkirk family are the most scottish looking cunts ever. 👍

Watched the first one. Not entirely convinced by this, and your nod of approval has made me less so. Still, got the lovely Miss Knightley in it so will perservere. Really enjoyed Day of the Jackal. Really, really enjoyed how the writer handled the protagonists in the last episode. I'll say no more.

Yeah, of course. No person from Liverpool is ever critical of any aspect of the city. You know this from your extensive experience of meeting scousers. I mean, its not possible for me to disprove your frankly ludicrous experience but I can tell you it doesn't match mine at all. I've only ever lived in two city areas for any length of time, Newcastle and Liverpool, and what personally has always struck me is the similarities, not the differences. If we take popular culture and drama as an example we can at least objectively anchor to, what drama has ever painted Liverpool in a rosy light? From Boys to the Blackstuff to the Responder more recently, dramas written by Scousers set in Merseyside are normally pretty unrelentingly bleak, in much the same way NE ones often are. So on the one hand, they're accused of wallowing in self pity and on the other, according to you, they paint Liverpool as some type of Nirvana. Or could it be that the reality is, you've got your preconceived opinions and that is going to colour your perception regardless? That the reality is, they've had an immensely successful football club in living memory (well, two really) whilst we have been plucky losers, and maybe really, we wish the situations were reversed? I know I do.

Yeah, Yorkshire also has a really strong identity, especially Leeds. Don't really come into the football equation though.
-
Yeah. I lived in Liverpool for half a decade and have worked with people at every job I've had since from the city, including currently. That's just utter lazy bullshit. Not saying you don't get people like that but it could be just as true of some from Manchester , which also probably subconciously clouds your perception (bitter bastards both sides of that divide). And aye, that opinion literally could also be taken from the SMB in reference to us, it's exactly the type of shite they perpetuate, whereas the truth is, Newcastle just simply has mnore heritage/character/standing than Sunderland and they are jealous as fuck about it.
-
That's fair enough. Outside of football, the main reason scousers are disiked imo is that they have a very strong partisan regional identity, reinforced by a strong accent. Does that not sound familiar though? Whereas places around the greater Manchester area, West Yorks, South Yorks, east and west midlands, let's be honest, you could be anywhere. Nothing wrong with having a strong regional identity imo. My thing against scousers is their self-perceived wit. Sorry lads, you're really not that funny, sayting something in a squeaky voice doesn't make it so.

Meh. Gordon got the assist for Murphy's first and got the assist to the assist for his second. WHat this shows is that you shouldn't focus on individual players but how they play together. Peace, man.

Well the cause of Heysel was more shoddy infrastructure and stewardship rather than anything else. And before you get so high and mighty about Newcastle fans, I remember them crippling a mackem in North Shields leaving him profoundly disabled for life, then of course there was the West Ham petrol bomb incident. Could easily have been first degree murder that. Blastronaut is spot on. People are the same everywhere, just different circumstances lead to different consequences. It amazes me that as with religion, one group of humans can believe they have some kind of inherent moral superiority over another. As soon as you do this you're entering the realms of bigotry. Genuine question here to. If you go to Anfield or Goodison, do you not get on with the fans? I've never seen bad blood between us, save once where Arkles was bricked. Same at SJP save the odd occasion.
-
Honestly, so do we.
-
Mackems claim there is a media love in for us, SJP as the cathedral on the hill certainly has some resonance. The entertainers etc. Loads of media stereotypes surrounding us, mainly positive. Truth is, if we had anything like Liverpools success we would be media darlings even more. As it is, we're more akin to Spurs. It's just the way it is.

Wigan is that annoying smelly clump of hair at the top of the bum cleft.

Warrington.

Yeah, but apart from that, they're sound la? Liverpool was fucking desperately grim late 80s like, was shat on more than any other city. A lot of it is now gentrified and like us they've lost their club to the middle classes and tourists, mainly from Scandinavia. Take a step back and the parallels with us are really obvious. As for Heysel, I'd rather not go there but it saddens me so many will take the sides of the authorities who completely ballsed up that match over the football fans. Could have happened to any club given the 80s hooly culture and indeed I remember on the night Juve fans were also a disgrace.
-
You went to school in Liverpool? I'm sorry to hear that.
-
PL is a Sky fan boy? Steady on.
-
Thing is, Liverpool is just a genuinely interesting place, it's pretty hard to argue otherwise. It's got character most other Northern English and Midlands shit holes just don't have. I'm including Manchester in that. The footballing success of the city I find interesting more than anything else. Somehow they, and Manchester, have developed a winning mentality and legacy which unfortunately we just can't match, no matter how hard we've tried. So I think some of this is just jealousy personally, which is fine.

You can have Dennis Wise n'arl.

Weren't the mackems, the "Bank of England" team, the original financially doped team? Think almost all successful clubs are bank rolled tbh. Very few exceptions. But anyway, preferring Chelsea is quite something. Rancid London club who were bankrolled by a literal russian oligarch. And who had John Terry as their captain. Let that sink in.
-
I'll never get the hatred of Liverpool on this board like. Really it's quite a similar city to us in many ways, and we even have some shared football links, none more so than Keegan. Alright they've had some annoying twats in their time including Klopp. And they're a bogey team. But Chelsea? Naah, fuck that club.
-
On other news Rangers lost the porridge cup on penalties to Celtic after leading twice, which is nice.
-
No.
-
Fair enough. I was there today and just think we played brilliantly start to finish. Leicester didn't set out to look poor, in actual fact their fans were in good fettle. They weren't a bad team. We just clicked and blew them away. Mackems often portray our successes due to our opponents weaknesses. Today we fucked Leicester, they couldn't stop us. And I loved it. I think we should give ourselves more credit sometimes.

Not singling out you mate, but fuck me, how mackemesque is this talk.?
