  1. Good luck HG. He's very young still and plenty of time for things to change but for your own sake if nothing else it sounds like you need to be proactive. It's not entirely clear to me from what you've said if he wants to socialise but is unable to, or just doesn't really want to. If he wants to (I think that's what your saying), I think this may be a good sign and maybe something will click, maybe very suddenly. Otherwise he may be on the spectrum I guess. Interesting you mention covid, this has had a negative effect on so many kids across the age spectrum (and adults too). Other random advice, someone earlier talked about a video gaming friendship group, I'd personally be very wary of giving him too much opportunity to withdraw into a virtual world, much better getting him involved in social sports. I'm a first generation gamer but I hate what the latest stuff does to kids, mine would just do nothing else given the chance. Also I guess you need to wary about projecting adult anxieties here, goodness knows what goes on in a 4 year old head. Talking to the teacher is your best start imo, a good teacher can make a huge difference.
  2. Don't worry, we're on it.
  3. Only game I've seen them play this year was the Boro game, I don't recall seeing him do anything but they were down to 10 men most the match. But what I seriously don't get, is they don't seem to account for much lower standard of the Championship, despite the promoted teams filling 4 of the bottom places having barely won a match. Burnley got 101 points last year. Thinking Jobe is going to follow his brother to Real Madrid is surely fanciful at best, based on 10 games in that league.
  4. Well, Trump wasn't joking when he encouraged an insurrection which directly led to several deaths was he? And you know, given his links to the mafia underworld I would not be surprised if he hasn't had involvement with a people ending up in concrete pillars in the New Jersey turnpike. It seems absolutely incredible to me that Trump has been the source of so much hatred and divsion in the US, and you are being an utter snowflake because a comedian made a joke.
  5. So apparently Real Madrid are scouting Jobe Bellingham, and considering putting a bid in for £50 million. Source: "Andy", SAFC fan. They are frapping themselves silly at the prospect of getting twice as much for him as their previous record sale (Pickford), and some are suggesting they can use this to fund their stadium expansion so they can fit more empty seats in. What is it with the mackems and this weird hyperbolic opinions on their players. I don't watch then play, but a quick scan shows that he has played 10 games in a number 8/10 role (I think), scored twice, 1 assist, average rating 6.8, MotM once (I think). In the second tier. And now he's worth £50 million? Blimey, with them unmasking gems like this then surely they will be the next Brighton....
  6. This would be great but in practice access to these services just isn't there except for themost severe conditions. Like Holden, my other kid is also incredibly popular. This just makes it harder for the less popular one of course, because siblings don't really have empathy until they are older.
  7. Not really advice, just empathy, I have similar issues with one of mine, although she is a fair bit older. It's really one of the things you can't control, especially at school. Let the teachers know your concerns and I am sure they will be on the lookout and help where they can. See, this is the thing about having kids. One of the characters on bad sisters said "you're only as happy as your unhappiest child" and I was just knocked over by how true and profound this was. I mean I'm socially awkward as fuck as an adult but after a while you really stop giving a fuck. But now you have to worry about how your kids socialise, and what's worse, it hurts much more than anything that directly affects you and you have little control over it. Parenthood sucks in many ways.
  8. I was grasping for a meme for Madeley's idiocy. This is perfect.
  9. Just stickin this from the Guardian here because its something not really talked about on this board or in the media in general. The fiscal drag put in place by Sunak and Hunt is equivalent to a fucking 6% rise in PAYE. Meanwhile the jug eared gnome is thinking about abolishing inheritance tax, a tax that only benefits the top 5% of inheritors and would save Sunak's family an estimated £300 million.
  10. "Word on the street" I mean, it flew under the radar of one of the most sophisticated intelligence agencies in the World, but this lass knew? Fuck off man, get this cunt off the air.
  11. You really shouldn't consider if you should be watching this. What good can it do? They're jihadists, they are human zombies, with no humanity. Whilst I understand your reference to the holocaust, they did exactly the same in Paris at the Bataclan, 8 years ago. It's not just Jews they hate, they hate everything the West represents and life itself. There will be more attacks in Western Europe. I fact it's already started in Brussels. Be careful everyone.

Am no ersed bout rugby ken but this is barry ay? [1.05 onwards]
  13. There now follows an advert for the match day experience at the Stadium of Light.
  14. It's funny that a lot of people assume Budhism is a pacifistic religion but then you look at Mynamar..... And don't get me started on those shinto-budhist pagan pigs from Japan.....
  15. We had the always Sunny discussion here before, I missed it first time round. I started watching it at the start of last year, I quite enjoyed it but after a while the characters were just ALL so grotesque without any redeeming qualities I just mentally switched off. Might get round to finishing it one day I guess, I'm probably more than half way through. Been very few decent comedies recently here or in the US rec. I like Sharon Horgan's stuff, that's about it for me.
  16. Urghh man, wash your mouth out, the UK office was genre defining and I can still watch it cos it just got the zeitgest right. Seinfeld has definitely aged quite badly mind.
  17. It's funny but thinking about it, in the UK often after a seminal comedy the actors go on to do great things, like the Office, Royle family, Auf Wiedershen for instance. I can't think of anything decent any of the cast Cheers did except some films by Woody Harrelson maybe. Danson in Curb perhaps, but that's a cameo. Seinfeld the same, some people like Veep with Julia Louis-Dreyfus I suppose (and yes, I'm aware most on here don't rate the original). Alan Alder maybe in Mash. Oh, and Will Smith after Prince of Belair, very much an exception though. I guess you can just retire after a hit US comedy. Okay, probably just talking shit outloud the more I think about it. Kelsey Grammer is an unfunny arsehole, we'll leave it at that.
  18. Think the film is a bit style over substance as well tbh. I mean, the fact it was taken in one-shoot is genuinely incredible. But its about a chef in a posh restaurant ateod. More just a vehicle to show off Graham's talents I think. The series is quite different but imo too short, they don't give the characters enough time to explain their background or develop them. The four episodes feel like a trailer for the inevitable second series.
  19. I hated it first time round. Absolute shit.
  20. I mean, what did you expect? A light meoldrama with an uplifting ending?
  21. His defenceis it's a kangaroo court and the elite are trying to censor him because he believes in a soverign Britain. Wibble.
  22. Meanwhile the party of law and order:
  23. You've done the right thing in closing the other thread which trivialised the issue and had fucknuts like Parky and opening this one. We shouldn't censor this issue, everybody has been respectful imo. There are clear sensitivities to navigate with Gloom and aimaad, just like real life. In my office, I have colleagues who have relatives in Israel being called up, and a colleague with immediate family in Gaza. This isn't an esoteric issue, it is affecting a lot of people in the UK and must be faced. Maybe that will become a positive, that the issue will have to be resolved now rather than left to fester for dacades with people just thinking "not this shit again in Gaza/west bank" and switching off the news.
  24. See, I don't agree with this at all. It's a message board, General Chat is all about sharing opiniions and feelings about World events as well as funny stuff. I agree this topic needs extra sensitivity, but I don't see anyone trying to win an argument here. In fact, we're all pretty much in agreement the whole thing is a shit show. But exposing the hypocrisy of the politics here with particular reference to the UK is what we do. Participation on this thread is optional and those that are contributing aren't weird. Okay. maybe some are, but not cos they're on this thread.
