  1. The shitting on seat thing and punching horses were the actions of individuals. Alrgiht for banter but no more indicative of a fan base than Everton putting bike locks around their necks and chaining themselves to goal posts. However, in the hundreds of times I've seen NUFC play home and away, I've never once heard us wishing individual players dead (Stephen Taylor), their entire fanbase to be dead (metro video from this weekend), or that their player can go around noncing underage girls and that's fine(Adam Johnson). All of these have been caught on video with dozens if not hundreds of their fans joining in. This is not normal, they are not normal. For them to then claim some kind of moral superiority is just, well. Talking of which, the Henderson thing is gaining traction. I read thispost and it got me thinking. It's not the same. Which is worse, not disowning you club because it has been taken over by the Saudis, or actually receving huge payments to play for one of their clubs? When you are already incredibly wealthy? Now I'm not criticising Henderson here any more than an oil worker or engineer who goes there, it's his choice, but their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
  2. I don't IPTV for various reasons, most notably because I am an upstanding, inherently morally superior person who actually properly contibutes money to the makers of the content, without which you IPTV scumbags would have none of the said content. That aside, Mrs Rents is bizarrely backwards to technology, to the extent for some unfathomable reason she prefers "live" TV to streamed content, and rarely looks past BBC, ITV and Channel 4, despite the fact I currently have subscriptions to Disney, Netflix, Now, Amazon and Apple TV.
  3. Anybody watching this Full Monty sequel/spin off thing? I've watched the first episode but not sure about continuing. Thing is, I was never a fan of the original "aren't poor Northerners funny" plot, especially as it overshadowed the far superior Brassed Off released around the same time. Secondly it's depressing as fuck seeing what the ravages of two and a half decades of time has inflicted on the acting cast. MIght give episode 2 a go and make my mind up.
  4. Just finished Poker Face on Now/Sky. Very enjoyable. Normally I fucking hate whodunnit stuff but this was different. Was like a cross between Columbo and the Littelest Hobo. You know the murder in advance but the story is about how the protagonist solves it. The protagonist in question being that lass from Russian Doll. I can't make my mind up about her, she's an absolute two face. On the one hand, her head is too big for her body, she has Tina Turner hair, and she has a voice so depp and gravelly she make Mariella Frostrup sound like Michael Jackson. On the other hand she's just fucking lush. Anyway, there is also an over-arching plot which explains her fugitive status, which bookends the series. Get it fucking watched if you have access. 👍
  5. I know I shouldn't but they are so weird. So the Mag tops in Sunderland thread I think has been merged with the summer edition Mags sportswashing thread after reaching over a thousand posts. The combined thread is near 3000 posts, in about 3 weeks, off season. But as soon as it moves up pops another thread about " Durham Mags". The bull shit is endless, here's an example. How do these knackers even think they are reclaim this 50 year old fantasy of county Durham? Maybe they should, you know, just become a decent football team, rhe way it works everywhere else? Page after page of lunacy.
  6. What is it with these shit strips and even shitter advert campaigns? They've managed to not only make this lass look thoroughly miserable in her porn themed sponsored kit, but also like a low grade prostitute in the Amsterdam red light district.
  7. Absolutely fewming at a public transport sign.
  8. Nowt wrong there. That was on Australian TV man.
  9. Spennymoor, county Durham. Local strips for local people. Of course.
  10. Shit strip 👍 Strange looking lass (sister) leaning suggestively across a car bonnet 👍 Shit brutalist architecture in background 👍 Non committal sale date implying supply issues 👍 Homage to the 80s when they could also be found in the third tier 👍
  11. Apparently his signing fee is £8 million which is more than their entire ST revenue. This frat kid better ask for a pocket money rise from his mummy.
  12. If they haven't been promoted they will be on about 15% less in real terms won't they? During the Osbourne cunt austerity years, pay was pretty much reduced by 1% every year, compounded, obviously. That's huge ove a decade. And now with inflation in double figures, that;'s a huge cut for them to absorb. After having to teach 2 kids in lockdown, I'm amazed there is a parent left that doesn't massively appreciate teachers. I certainly do. And I think 60 hour weeks are pretty normal. Class sizes at our school are approaching 35 now, and often there aren't teaching assistants anymore. Huge shortage of teachers in key subjects. It's a massive shit show. I support them 100% whilst at the same time obviously concerned about the impact on my own kids. I fucking hate the beligerence of the government, they don't care, their kids are all at private schools and not affected. I like what I hear from Bridget but she hasn't addressed pay. I think all public sector employees need an inflation busting pay rise and then their pay should be indexed link to inflation for a decade so it can't decrease in real terms again. The public sector have been treated disgracefully and we all suffer for it.
  13. Supposed to be the Proclaimers, not fucking Travis.
  14. In homage to Trainspotting, tonight is the first night of the Mouth of the Tyne festival. And it happens to be Leith and Hibees favourite sons, the Proclaimers. And in true Yorkshire spirit (see how things are coming together here?), am I fuck paying the £38 a ticket for entry to the Priory. So I'm sitting outside at the Gib, having a rare pint, listening to this cacophony for free! Ahh fuck it's started to rain.
  15. Renton

    Twitter

I don't use either of those but I think this is supposed to advert free for at least a year. Twitter is canny bad for adverts since Musk took over anyway.
  16. Renton

    Twitter

    Twitter's finished. Zuckerberg = 1 cunt Musk = 10 Zuckerbergs
  17. Coffee!? It's t'disgrace t'int'it? Yorkshire tea duck. 👍
  18. Davie, Matty, Second Prize, Alison, Kelly, all removed or amalgamated in the film. Which was necessary, but the book is so much richer. Welsh's description of alcoholism via Second Prize is astonishingly accurate imo, not touched in the films. The other thing about the book is just the shear volume of memorable quotes and philosophy, communicated usually directly or indirectly through Renton, but also characters like Sick Boy and Begbie. And the internal monologues, with Sickboy "thinking" like Sean Connery, Spud seeing everyone as a cat. Or the way Renton's thoughts in the book so closely match his drug status - whether high, in acute withdrawal, stable, or in shock/pissed (e.g. Billy's funeral). And of course the superb use of phonetic language. Barry.
  19. I know this has been done before but I fucking love this book so much. Essentially a collection of short stories, which never even explicitly state who the narrator is (most are first person). Like a jig saw, you need to put the pieces together which introduces a Universe of characters so vivid you feel like you're part of it, especially if you know Edinburgh, a plot arc which is more than the sum of its parts. Takes at least two reads but well worth it. Best thing was though I could just pick up the book, read a chapter at random, and still laugh at Spud, cringe at Begibie, or cry at Tommy's cruel decent. Like many a classic music band, Welsh produced his masterpiece early on and whilst he also wrote many other worthy novels, none hit these heights again, and eventually he delved in self parody. But I'll always fondly remember Trainspotting - the book, the film, and the stage play. Renton literally became a part of me. Cheers Irvine.
  20. Naaah, it was massively derivative of his previous work and he hasn't had a new idea in half a decade. Hence the ratings for the series are plumetting. Series 1 through 4 were superb, peaking in S3 imo. I liked Bandersnatch too. Series 5 to 6, very much sub par.
