And yet despite being in an iMax, the explosion gave no idea of scale and looked nothing like the library film (some of which are utterly amazing btw, as they were shot at an amazing 3,000,000 fps!). Nolan said he wanted to focus on the characters reactions, which is fair enough, but he let his purity to avoid CGI get in the way here imo. Still a cracking film though and will clear up in the Oscars, I'd be amazed if Murphy doesn't win best actor.

Cullercoats is a repeat offender, has been for years, apparently nobody knows why. Much better off swimming in Long Sands or King Edwards Bay.

I just watched that episode again during a late lunch break. It is comedy gold. Possibly my favourite bit outside the Stewart "negotiations" (read him getting bent over a barrel and dry humped for 4 hours) was the BBC Newcastle reporters at the match afterwards. Paraphrasing, "It appears Will Grigg is not on fire. He's gone out". Also that beant hat weirdo, the one wholives in his Mam's attic, appears in it, never noticed it before.
-
Tbf it won't be anywhere near as funny or entertaining as the mackem mockumentary one, which gave This is Spinal Tap a run for their money. I still laugh when I thinkof the WIll Grigg negotiations.

This is getting ridiculous. I doubt we will ever bring in checks on EU imports. Although we may be taken to the WTO by a third country soon. Also we have binned plans for the UKCA to replace the CE mark, granting the CE mark equivalence, which largely makes UKCA an inconvenience for UK companies only. Fucking madness. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/08/02/rishi-sunak-brexit-eu-rules-ce-mark/#comment

Aye, but a big part of our success last season was having a settled and consistent defence, with Trippier, Burn, Scharr and Botman ever presents. Trippier is also our de facto captain and has a few years left in him imo. This seems like a lot of money for someone who might not get many games this year but as with others I trust the recruitment program.

Here are two GDP trend graphs, can you guess which one is the UK and which one is the US? The tories. Given us US style inequality with its attendent problems but not giving us US style growth. I had a look at an inflation calculator today, out of interest I put in my salary for my first "proper" job in 2002 and calculated what the equivalent salary would be today. Turns out despite much more respnsibility and the equivalent of four grade promotions over the last 20 years, I am actually earnng the same as my 30 year old self. This country is fucked.
-
So what does this mean for Trippier? Edit: sorry, thought he was a right back. Edit, edit: Wait he is a right back. I refer back to point one. Do we want a 30 million quid player to be used as cover or will Trippier be dropped?

Tempting to think this is the main reason but in my experience its more a combination of parent paranoia, video games, and social media.

Took the day off work today with the intention of solo walking in the Cheviots, couldn't cancel it, so binned the walk off with the rain and treated myself to Oppenheimer in iMax instead. First time I've been to the cinema to see an adult film in years (not that type MF). Anyway, the seats are lush and it's going to be hard going back to the pleb seats after that. You need them for the 3 hour film plus 30 mins of adverts though. What have I just seen? I enjoyed it but this was much more like an Oliver Stone film than a Christopher Nolan one. I loved the science/war part but was less keen on the Mccarthyism witch hunt plot which bookended it. I remember Nolan insisted no CGI was used in the film which showed, Trinity looked like a banger going off in my back garden. A solid 7/10 and hope it gets some people interested in physics. It's an amazing story.

County Durham is mackem land marra.

I heard yesterday that Johnson's planning application for a swimming pool for his new Oxfordshire mansion was turned down because he has great crested newts living in his garden. Surely that is punishment enough.
-
Well yeah, that's Leazes park straying onto Castle Leazes. Not the club's land, not easily buyable, and part listed.
-
Hust realised these SJP musings are in the worng thread really so apologies.
-
But this is the missed opportunity imo, where I work, the Helix, would have been perfect 20 years ago. Then the Helix buildings could have been located more centrally in the SJP site. Never mind, joined up thinking doesn't often happen in this country.
-
BBC circled here, Hunter's moor is big enough but again canny far out. ALthough if we could somehow merge the Magedia BBC into the ground for the SMB fewm shits and giggles, it nmight be worth considering. 👍
-
If there were resident objections to Castle Leazes at the time they will be 10 fold now, Ricky road has been totally transformed with hundreds of new student blocks in the past few years, also the cancer research centre I used to work in located that area, along with other Uni buildings, can't see them going anywhere. In any case it's getting a bit far from the centre. I just can't see past SJP redevelopment, though I can't see it satisfying demand either.
-
One way to stifle demand....
-
Do you mean building on Leazes Park? Is this an option? I think Alex reminded us it was grade 1 listed. It's currently a dump but really the only city centre park. I don't think the town moor or nuns moor are options for similar reasons, and are too far away in any case imo. The Arena is a less convenient option for transport and the town centre and apparently is too small. Anything further or outside the city boundaries can out get to fuck, its the central location that makes SJP special. I still think redevlopment of the Gallowgate and East stands are most likely.

They are absolutely taking the piss, grifting their arses off during the last months of power and openly laughing at us. And yet incredibly 25 to 30% of people would stil vote for them.

The replies on that thread.

Yep. Don't forget to throw in you can't be poor if you won a large flat screen TV or a smart phone as well, even though the latter is now bascially a necessity to do anything. My mum is becoming increasingly Daily Mail, even though she doesn't read it (she reads the Observer once a week and the Metro sometimes). She judges everybody and everything, it does my head in. I think these notions just enter old peoples' heads through some type of osmosis. Has it always been like this? Will I become like this? Genuinely scares me, think Logan's run had the right idea.

So the irony of this is, apart from the original story being complete bullshit because it's based in the US (also the food looks rank), nearly all the recipes this lady cooks up are vegeterian. Is 30p Lee, who is having some kind of breakdown about his son becoming a veggies, endorsing veggie food?
-
I want to laugh but there are son many pigshit people in the country who will just believe Just stop oil are part of the Labour party I can't. It really shouldn't be legal to lie like this in a democracy. And Labour too timid and pathetic to take these cunts head on, just plays to their game.

Has this bizarre Lee Anderson story been posted yet?
