You do know the nuclear holocaust will happen in the last minute of extra time when we're 2 0 up against Liverpool don't you?
-
Not sure that's fair like. Although there were the usual suspects claiming it was a Parton Down conspiracy.
-
Seem perfectly fair questions, no leading questions there or anything. 👍 Where are the other 3 before I make up my mind to become a full out racist fascist or not?

Well, firstly, great article, cheers. Forgot what a great writer Dunt is. He's a massive loss to OGWN as is Alex Andreou. I agree with every word he says. Now, secondly, I don't think Dunt is arguing to completely disengage from politics here at all like you advocate, far from it, he's saying take a break occasionally, which I do. If you think I remotely comment on all that Musk and Trump say and do, you are clearly well out of the loop. Less than 10% of their insanity is posted by me or anyone else - just see the large gaps in dates between posts, and contrast that with Musk's 1200 posts in a week. When I do post, it is almost exclusively when I am supposed to be working for a US company, so count that as a small victory for the little English man! And thirdly, I don't believe I tagged you. Now given that you said you weren't engaging ever again with this thread, how do you know I mentioned you? Only kidding, it's just getting a balance. Genuinely believe now though we are at the stage where US politics is going to directly impact our lives. I can't ignore that but I accept Dunt's advice on minimising it as much as possible.

Btw, does getting out of bed count as a 1-c? Although it wasn't a clean take this morning. 🙌

This was a true sliding door moment in history (April 2011). Obama taking the piss out of Trump, because he is so ridiculously thin-skinned, motivated Trump to where we are now. It's incredible to think if Obama hadn't told that joke the World might be a completely different place.
-
I'm not even sure he said that. He said, because of the size of the EU, any trade deals with the US would be focussed on them first. Which makes complete sense to all parties. The howls of rage from the gammons could be heard echoing around England. Now one of his cabinet has openly called for the democratically elected leader of the UK to be disposed an imprisoned, not so much. Obama was a breath of fresh air. People shouldn't underestimate the impact he had with the Affordable Care Act, which will probably be reversed now. It's hard to operate within the confines of the US political system, particularly for anything vaguely "socialist". He of course was also a great orator and communicator and a calm head internationally. He was everything Trump is not.

Not keen on th Not keen on what is being implied by this post personally, smacks of "they're all the same". So Obama talked to Trump at an event they were mandatorily obliged to attend and sit together, and someone has produced a still of Obama laughing without any context? For the avoidance of doubt, they are not all the same. Apart from the personal issues with Trump (narcissist, sociopath, racist, rapist etc) he is intent on destroying the leading democracy in the World and economically, maybe even militarily, severely hurting its long-held allies. He is destroying the established interbational norms following the second world war condemining us to make the same mistakes. He is letting the planet burn. He is utter scum. Obama is not imo. Obama was a friend to the UK. Trump is the enemy. Edit: I realise this may have been a joke post (referring to the tweet, not SB), but this type of stuff has a way of permeating into peoples heads and we are one step closer to a post truth dystopia.

Then you have the direct contradiction he will be part of a climate change sceptical "drill, drill, drill" government. What can possibly go wrong?

It was J69's review that did it for me tbh. Apparently chinese EVs are the way to go anyway, could never afford a Tesla even if I didn't despise Musk.
-
Apparently Musk has made 1200 Twitter posts in the last 7 days. Lost the plot. You'd think he would have better things to do, like do his CEO jobs or just enjoy his vast wealth? Instead he's disappeared down his own rabbit hole and in fact I nearly have enough material to write a script for Black Mirror based on him.

Childhood in the UK when I grew up was glorious. Jumpers for goalposts, biking with mates, ciggys in the quarry, felt safe everywhere. This cunt grew up in a place which physically seperated and discriminated against black people, condemning the latter to a lifetime of poverty and servitude. Peak apartheid. Oh, and on a personal level Musk's family life was quite disturbing. His father married his step daughter ffs. Really hope this cunt ODs soon.

They leave their mark, literally. The boulders on Striding Edge and Swirrel Edge are strewn with scratch marks and grooves from axes and crampons. Would love to do it mind.

I'm scoobied too tbh. Can't be Sunderland cos they only built boats there.

Liz Truss, champion of free speech, puts a cease and desist on the prime minister for stating the obvious truth, and threatens to sue him over losing her seat. Meanwhile the Tories dined out for 14 years on the factual lie that Gordon Brown wrecked the economy. And the cherry on the cake, just 1 week ago Truss made these vile lies about Jess Phillips. Up is down, left is right, the world has gone insane.

What a shitein cunt Zuckerberg is. And Bezos. All that dosh and still won't stand up to Trump and Musk. This is the only social media I do. Bit of an echo chamber but I genuinely feel I know and respect the regulars on here. I love the independence of the site, the in jokes, the camaraderie. Waste enough time here as it is. Got to say the latest moves to remove fact checking scres me a lot. That, along with deep fakes, means we are living in an truth free World. That's a bit problematic for me because I think truth is THE most important thing there is. I don't believe democratic society can function without truth. What value is a vote based on lies? We had it with Brexit and its been getting worse ever since. Now it's going exponential. What Jenrick and Badenoch have said and haven't said this week would have been unimaginable just years ago, I want to, but I no longer see a way out of this. I'm not going to bury my head in the sand like Gemmill. My eyes are wide open as the ship goes down.

True in theory, but have you seen the state of pharmacies recently? About half have closed, massively increasing demand on those remaining. They get paid a pittance to do this vital support work. And they now have to spend half their time chasing drug suppliers partly due to Brexit. That's another profession I nearly entered and now think thank fuck I didn't.

We have AI already in 111. That's a script. Its useless. We're a long way from robot GPs who can do physical exams even before you consider the compassion but. 99% of jobs will be gone to AI before GPs are.

I think part of it is they are using algorithms which if they need to stick to for litiginous reasons. My mum has insane blood pressure. Lots of times she has been to see them, because it is potentially catastrophically high, she gets sent to Cramlington or the RVI which ends up being a day out of my life. Gets all the scans, then released and back to square one. We just refuse now. Similarly for MH I imagine anyone with suicidal ideation is sent off to secondary care in short order. Talking of which, when I was on the metro this morning a woman nearly threw herself in front of the train. The driver stopped and located her and she was in a right state "I just want to die...". Nice way to start my first office day of the year.

1 in 1000 chance of winning the league!

I know several GPs who would happily kill you for this comment. Fwiw, GPs have a highly skilled job and are an absolutely critical part of the NHS (although to be pedantic, they are outwith the NHS). They can deal with 80% of your health problems. Yes, they are also gatekeepers which is an important role also. No, they don't know everything. But they know where to find information and will be able to correctly interpret a Google result. If they don't, they risk being struck off. Nevertheless, like everything else, there are good and bad GPs, and like everybody else, they have off days. But overall, hats off to them. Can you even imagine seeing 20 to 30 patients a day, with all sorts of conditions, doing physical exams, admin, etc? No fucking way would I do it.

Yep.

Only 40% chance of top 5? Bollocks.

Only 70 million or so colateral, so you know......
