Ah yes, the sovereign state of Tyneside, with its own planning laws. Imagine posting that fucking twaddle and not being embarrassed

That said, this very real possibility has me worried:

I love how they just invent stuff that the owners have promised within (also invented) deadlines. All so they can kid themselves it points to the Saudis having lost interest.

Haven’t completely checked out of football but gone back to grassroots stuff. Plus inevitably, misty-eyed nostalgia With popular culture I dig into loads of stuff from the past. Just not a lot that recent. With you on the hobbies. Fuck that shit. Except hiking. I pretty much always liked that though -

I must admit I’m the opposite. I rarely even watch us if we’re live on tv now. Just not interested really. Watch the highlights, although even then not always. Not sure what it is but just feel disconnected from it all. I still like to see us do well and follow the results but that’s about it. It’s more than just the Mike Ashley effect. I’ve got very little interest in popular culture of the last couple of decades or so too. Oddly it doesn’t even bother me much on the whole -

I actually caught this by chance at the time. It’s not available now but the track list is included in the link below. The genre is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. What was good, apart from the music, was it being obvious she had a real love for the music rather than it being some ironic kitsch piss take. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03m6xnw Also, a few of the artists on the Brainfeeder record label do stuff that channels that yacht rock vibe, with a 70s psychedelic soul feel too. There’s one particular artist I got into during covid call Thundercat. Oddly enough, before that, he had quite a long spell as the bassist in Suicidal Tendencies

Best of luck, HMHM. And sorry to hear about your wife’s fall. I really hope you can come to some arrangement that suits your situation

Think I’ve mentioned before that Leazes Park is grade Ii listed. Which would be less of an issue for a building. As grade I is the higher designation. But there’s a lack of existing, Victorian city centre parks outside of London. I think that is surmountable with a will by local government to achieve the project, move existing structures to the ‘new’ part of the park on the old SJP, like Renton mentions. It would also probably by an improvement on the part of the current park they’re looking to build on too. Presumably the NUFC owners would look to help in costs around maintaining it as well. All, imo, better options than rebuilding the current one, and losing capacity in the meantime and moving out of the city centre. The latter would be a real shame

They clearly aren’t that savvy in terms of the electoral system since I doubt many of them did it to hand labour a huge majority. Yet they were a major factor in that and anyone looking into it a bit would have known that was the pre-election prediction too. Focussing on them kind of misses the point imo, in terms of revealing the absurdity of FPTP in a post-truth, multiple party, do your research via Facebook age. To give a more concrete example, the data modelling suggests that if an election were held today, Labour would have a majority of 82 with about 30% of the popular vote. I.e. larger than Johnson’s ‘landslide’ in 2019

Sackable offence imo. At least suspend her until the outcome of an investigation.

Was just about to post that. Accidentally = got caught.

Not sure I can see the validity of FPTP in relation to stopping Trump either. Given he’s won once and the simulations give him only a slightly lower chance of winning than Harris. Also, you could conceivably have Reform being the biggest party with less than 30% of the vote. It seemed impossible but look at how they’ve spread the vote and how many seats the Lib Democrats have and how it’s now a 5 horse, rather than a two horse race in England. Apart from FPTP not being fit for purpose, I think that scenario with Reform is more likely than extremism under PR. You have c. 60% of the vote going to ‘progressive’ parties at most GEs anyway. The other thing is FPTP delivering so many Tory governments. Which has essentially created terminal, insular decline

It was largely just to appeal to a selfish, old, Tory cunt demographic. Earlier this year the income for households with pensioners overtook that of working families and they’re still fucking banging on like they’ve been robbed. Those close to the threshold who will struggle are obvious exceptions to this. They should’ve been getting more instead of rolling out to everyone based purely on age.

I don’t know if it’s been advertised as such but they couldn’t give a flying fuck about boosting or knocking a couple of hundred off the attendances for clubs like that. And even if they did and that was the reason it doesn’t work. I go and watch Heaton Stannington a lot and if they’ve got a 3 o’clock home Saturday ko and Newcastle have too, it impacts their attendance quite a bit. And that’s whether Newcastle are home or away. Because of the reasons others have mentioned and the ease in which you can watch through foreign providers

I think she might even be a bit too mental for the membership. Although a lot will genuinely depend on if they fantasise about shagging her. So she’s got that against her too.

Yeah, I know. I was mainly coming at it from the pov of the inevitable escalation and further deaths. Ditto the mass shooting, with the obvious caveat that the loss of life is tragic too. It just seems like a hopeless descent into all out war after the events today with Israel also launching a ground offensive in Lebanon. Fuck knows where this ends up, but even if a truce can be brokered it’ll seemingly be after thousands more deaths.
-
There’s also reports of several dead and critically injured following a mass shooting in Tel Aviv.

I’m the same. My dad worked at the civic centre back then and him and my mam took me. But I was about 3, so have absolutely no recollection of it
