I think it’s a power play to get more right wing madness (like leaving the ECHR) into the actual one. Probably just to position themselves as the next leader after the election. I can’t see how they could conceivably launch an alternative one. It would take a ridiculously poor campaign to new depths. As Renton alludes to, these sorts of moves from a party in government, in an actual election campaign, just highlight what a lame duck the pm is.

Braverman is in one of the few safe seats. But I think the annoyance of being pretty much an irrelevance will reveal just how unhinged she actually is. Same with Badenoch (who is even worse). Part of the reason they’re going to struggle to make up ground any time soon, unless labour has an absolute nightmare, is because what’s left of the decimated parliamentary party is going to be the loons. They’ll continue their failed culture wars because they don’t have anything else.

So he cut short his time at the D-Day commemoration event to do a damaging interview?

Tory manifesto to be published today amidst rumours there could be a more right wing ‘rebel’ one published if this one doesn’t land with the voters. With the latter involving a pledge to leave the ECHR

They’ve never fucking shut up about Mags wearing football tops since the two bit County Durham outfit supplying their kits couldn’t meet the demand.

The best bit is the off-topic ramble within the ramble when he goes on about a lot of people justifying the actions of the sharks that have recently attacked people.

I reckon I’d have been fucked up in any generation

NJS is right about a lot of people being cunts. Although I think a fair proportion of people naturally conservative leaning are selfish rather than outright racist etc. I mean the two things aren’t mutually exclusive but the reason I think they’re fucked as a party for a while is people have long memories. And it’s those selfish cunts that have been negatively financially impacted that have turned against them now. In the past I didn’t agree with them, but you could see why those comfortably off, middle class people would vote for them. They were looked after in terms of being better off and taxed lower. At least that was the perception. Now that’s not the case, public services are crumbling, everything including your mortgage costs more etc. There’s not really many people they can appeal to. It’s really just my parent’s generation, who retired on daft pensions in their 50s who don’t pay a mortgage as it was paid off decades ago. There’s precious few people left that are insulated from what the Tories have done and there’s not another generation coming that have it that good. Obviously that’s not the extent of their dubious appeal but in general they’ve fucked off their traditional base

Much like the alleged human rights concerns you can guarantee they’d never given kittiwakes a second thought (beyond sexual fantasies) before all this. It’ll act as a handy conduit for their overt racism though

I knew they’d get worked about that light show thingy and bring County Durham into it

He’s not even predicted to win the formerly safe seat he’s been parachuted into.

Prime have the Aussie tv rights for the cricket World Cup

I don’t know if it qualifies as a midlife crisis. Events tend to overtake these dreams, ambitions or whatever. But I think I’ve quite fancied the idea of it for as long as I can remember

They’ve found a body in Symi apparently

Who the fuck is this cunt?

I did wonder if it may have been suicide

I wasn’t really aware of that. I did see him at Belfast City Airport once. Going off the size of him sectarianism isn’t the only thing he needs to lay off

Nolan’s pretty good imo. Sticks to the point and doesn’t let people off the hook. On that basis most mainstream politicians will avoid him
-
These TV debates are pointless imo. It’s just showboating and not many people actually watch them. And I bet a lot if those who did, didn’t last the distance

If he’s that highly rated you’d think the club would be doing everything to convince Almiron to go to Saudi Arabia. Rather than flog this kid to a PL rival.

Nailed on, I reckon

Before I’d even read it I thought it must’ve been a rhea or emu from a petting zoo. They’re big, obviously, but ostriches are fucking huge, man

Yeah, I know. What I find somewhat incredible is that it’s this that has made a lot of people realise what the Tories are really about. Anyone with a grain of common sense should realise that all the patriotic, flag-shagging, poppy wearing stuff they indulge in is totally fake. They are, in most cases, literally traitors in the way they’ve prioritised personal gain far and away over national interest. But, more specifically, they couldn’t give a flying fuck about the wellbeing of people who are in or used to be in the armed forces.

She is. Iirc, she was a naval reservist who did the least possible to retain that status before taking the maximum amount of time allowed as a sabbatical due to a career before leaving. Whilst making out she’d been in the proper military
