There's still a nice one in Forest Hall but aye, generally speaking, you're right

I like pease pudding. To get vaguely back on track, they do a version of it in Crete.

It certainly smacks of desperation

The cheese and onion pasties are nice.

It's a novel (by Philip K Dick) rather than a film. I don't think it's one of his that has been made into a film. Although most of the ones that have bear little resemblance to the books anyway.

Not sure what film you're on about but the description reminded me of The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch.

Is it any less depressing than people going out on the piss and spending about 75% of the time looking at their phones, updating their Facebook status and trying to fool everyone (except the mates they're actually supposed to be out enjoying themselves with) how amazeballs their lives are?

That's partly true but there's also a mistrust of more mainstream media due, in part at least, to their own failings. Really though I think something like Brexit can be overanalysed. It was basically some dickhead taking a political gamble to quell disunity in his own party who got the timing badly wrong. The same vote with the economy riding high sees a completely different result I reckon.

On the contrary, you're too nice, if anything

The daft thing is you'd think that, along with employing the right manager, getting the academy set-up right must be about the best way of recouping any investment in a football club. Edit: There's also more chance of a local player coming through the academy having an affinity with the club and its fans etc. I.e. actually giving a shit about the shirt

Rayvin, I agree with lots of your posts, if that helps.

It's a reference to our resident sanctimonious bore.

The reason I thought he was was simply because I thought it was to demonstrate the dearth of talent we've unearthed since the initiation of these supposed 'centres of excellence', rather than just pedantry. Also, take away that bit where we obviously lucky in having a load of players coming through at once - Robbie Elliot, Steve Watson, Lee Clark, Alan Thompson and Steve Howey and it's been fucking dire for years. I suppose a lot of lads from the 85 FA Youth Cup winning side became professionals but, Gazza apart, they weren't great.

Think he was only there on school boys forms wasn't he, i.e. not even as an apprentice. Stretching it to call him a 'product of the academy' or whatever.

It was a reference to your beard

Assumed most of those predated 'academies'.

Actually I'll just take some drugs and watch it tonight. Because that's all I do

In a similar vein I think Westworld is class so far but sort of don't want another series because once the androids go wrong then there's not really anywhere else you can take that beyond more of the same.

I thought he'd confessed to his mate on his deathbed or something along those lines. No official confession to anyone official or anything like that. As has been said, you'd think they'd find a body if it was there. Ironically they uncovered some ancient graves during the search.
