KD? He’d go to New York. -
It’s not going to happen but the perfect scenario would be a Lib/Lab electoral pact this time round with PR on the agenda asap. Whilst the Tories are going to a walloping anyway, promoting tactical voting would see them with virtually no seats at all. Mind, I can’t get my head round people but doing that anyway. Why the fuck you would vote for Labour or the Lib-Dems in a seat they have little chance of winning when you’re effectively helping the Conservatives out?
-
I don’t see them getting back in next time round. But other than that, spot on
-
It’s not a stance I really agree with but I think it basically boils down to this - Labour are so far ahead in the polls that they could be much braver. But when you are so far ahead in the polls what do you have to gain by being brave? I’m also willing to judge Starmer on what he actually does.
-
I do find it a bit fucking weird like. I.e. for someone to be of the left-leaning persuasion and to turn what Sunak said yesterday in Parliament into something to use against Starmer. Even if you hate the bloke

The strengthening of the Saudi league (for want of a better phrase) is about raising its profile ahead of Saudi Arabia hosting the World Cup in 10 years imo. Rather than producing feeder clubs / means of getting around FFP for NUFC. (And more generally raising the country’s profile)

I think there’s a tragedy to him that a lot of his policies were good. But he couldn’t bring himself to even play the game a little bit. I also think he lacked the intellect to see the bigger picture on foreign policy, where he was definitely quite 6th from politics. The antisemitism stuff was handled so badly to the point I think he’s antisemitic without probably realising that himself. You obviously need to get in to effect change but I do agree in part with your views on Starmer. Whilst also recognising his decency as a person imo anyway. But I’ve said on here before that if they don’t look at stuff like voting reform and rowing back the stuff of the last 13 years or whatever it’s been then we’re getting an even worse version of the right gaining power not too far down the line

Aye. Because Johnson lied in that way. But that’s not even why he won. I guess it was in part, but it was mainly the unique set of circumstances that saw him up against Corbyn and the election being essentially all about ‘getting Brexit done’. Which I suppose just underlined how clueless they are. As an aside you had the policing minister giving a car crash of an interview on BBC breakfast. Whereby he inferred anyone thinking it was a trans jibe has misinterpreted it and should watch it again. Even continuing to repeat that after they’d been told about the comments re: what Sunak said from Brianna’s Ghey’s father. Then when asked how he could suggest the father hadn’t watched it, the minister said that’s not what he’d meant at all. Even though it literally was. When they’re getting a proper grilling on there you know they’re fucked.

For ‘Slipless in Settle’, Harry Pearson’s book about northern cricket. He used his dad’s definition of ‘the north’. I’m paraphrasing here but it’s a line starting at the Humber and going directly across the country to roughly where Southport is. He said it would come as a surprise to many that Geoff Boycott is not, therefore, from the north. But it provides the only reasonable explanation as to why the aforementioned cricketer is a Man Utd fan -
The thing with the trans issue is it’s another thing they’ve tried to weaponise to play to their base. Even in the wake of this, another entirely avoidable and entirely of their own making PR disaster. As seen by Badenoch’s comments, they just can’t help themselves in terms of trying to ‘win’. Even, as is clear in this case, when she’s being a massive hypocrite. Apart from the pathetic ploy of using something which can impact people’s lives negatively, it just shows how out of touch the government are. By that I mean, people don’t even fucking care. I don’t mean I don’t care about trans people. I was appalled by Brianna Ghey’s murder. But for most people not directly involved by it, the issues around the wider trans debate going on are fucking miles down the list of people’s priorities. The only reason the likes of Badenoch make such a priority of it is because they are so lacking in talent, compassion, a sense of public duty, empathy and practically anything you’d want in a politician. So all they have is using the culture war to play to the party members. Because all Badenoch, Braverman, McVey, etc want is power and to be party leader (certainly in the case of the first two). They’re ambitious sociopaths and nothing more. They’re not even very clever. They can’t even grasp that they’re going to be leading a party of 150 MPs (if they’re lucky) because they think this is more important than people being skint. It’s an insane state of affairs. Illustrated by the excerpt ewerk posted. I.e. they’ve ended with that little cunt as their PM. A bloke parachuted into no. 11 because (the then de facto leader of the country) Cummings thought he would be easy to control. A PM literally no one chose. Disliked by his own MPs and party membership. Who became an MP for something to do and so he could lobby on issues that were of personal financial benefit. I absolutely fucking despise them.

That’s actually the first time I’ve seen it but surely you realise that shite is scripted?

I remember my first couple of weeks at University. We were in catered halls in that first year. Anyway, it took me little while to cotton on but lots of people in the halls asked what school I’d gone to. I thought it was a bit odd (like how the fuck would someone from another part of the country be familiar with Seaton Burn Community High School. It was, of course, the privately educated sounding you out to see if you were a pleb or one of them. Within about two weeks they were sat in their private school cliques. I hasten to add not everyone from that background was like that - some couldn’t wait to disassociate themselves from that bit of their life. However it applied to the vast majority of them.

Clarke possibly worth that. At the most. That’s it. Chris Rigg barely plays for them anyway but apparently didn’t pull up any trees v the mighty Swindon in the FA Youth Cup the other night. You’d expect him to shine amongst his peers if he’s worth £15m already like. He was worth fuck all when they thought he was signing for us last summer
-
It’s fucking disgusting patter anyway. Obviously made worse by the context. Can’t wait to get rid of these cunts

‘PopCon’ is pure unintentional Chris Morris btw.

Actually watched it. Fuck knows why as you say, what a boring bastard. I also got the distinct impression his fascinating tale about how the conversation with the Sky executive was the idealised ‘this is what I should have said’ version of events -
Nailed on Netflix (sic) is a big fan
-
Agreed. Not least because she’d have to be absolutely fucking insane to have not gone into hiding for the rest of her life. After the absolute fucking clusterfuck of her four week reign as PM.

Might have mentioned this before but about 15 years ago we were on a Med Cruise for my sister’s wedding. Anyhow, we stopped at Mykonos one day and we were down the harbour bit. My cousin’s (now) husband said to me “what the fuck is that?” I replied “It’s a pelican”. He (being deadly serious btw) replied “fucking hell! I thought it was a dinosaur”. He’s from Sunderland like. Aye, mate. They still have dinosaurs in Greece 👍🏻 -

Aye. I think it’s most likely that he hasn’t been able to sign a DM with the attributes he wants thus far -

Bellingham is a nailed-on starter if he’s fit. Surely even for Southgate. He’s fucking dying to play Phillips as one of two holding midfielders for his ‘defensive stability’ though. I actually dread to think how bad Phillips’ form would need to be for him to not make the squad at least. Also, I don’t mind the idea of Foden playing wide in a front 3. As he’d naturally take up central positions and get involved more anyway. So long as it’s a midfield 3 of something like Rice, TAA and Bellingham. It won’t be though. It’ll be a 4-2-3-1. With two DMs doing the same job and Bellingham in the middle of that 3. Saka will start on the right of the 3 and it’ll be Foden on the left, if he’s lucky.

I also seem to remember reading CV was a promising cricketer
