I don’t particularly think he’s a target man ( ie where he’d ideally like to play). He’s meant to be a 10 but he’s going a job for the team and a pretty good one at that. It’s a hard role to play in the PL, as virtually everyone (us included) play with only one central striker, even if it’s your best position. Although I do think he’ll develop into a good CF. It’s really difficult holding the ball up when you’re isolated a lot of the time. The team aren’t playing particularly well either.

Look, mate: Catch me on a different night at a different time and I’d want them and Arsenal taken out by a tactical nuke which miraculously didn’t negatively impact anywhere else. Actually, just catch me tonight at a different time

Hate them. Wanted them to get beat. Don’t hate all their fanbase by any means. Pleased for the decent lads and lasses i know who follow them.

Not watched a match tbh, let alone this one but the results tell you they’re clearly a decent side. Europa league would be an incredible achievement and being competitive v this Arsenal side isn’t too shabby either, a draw is a great result after falling behind. I’m pleased for the fans of theirs that I know and like.

And that recipe would absolutely be better if you omitted the green peppers

He’ll be getting a lot more money though -
Re: fullbacks Krafth has been linked with a move to Copenhagen. You’d think we’d be looking to bring in at least one fullback in January if that happens. I think his contract runs out this summer anyway so it might even be a case of just getting him off the books for any sort of fee.

Linehan at it again. A trans person appeared on Only Connect apparently. Canny riposte though tbf.

Woltemade is meant to be able to play as a 10 and the way he plays as 9 suggests that too. I think Howe will continue to play 4-3-3 but we need to be able to change things up in terms of formation and not just personnel when we’re chasing a game or struggling to breakdown sides

St Max is still only 28 and plying his trade in Mexico now. Safe to say he hasn’t exactly been setting the world alight since he left.

Burn does his best to bomb on and Trippier is still a calming influence. They offer different things to Tino and Hall (see Burn’s beautiful headed goal for example). But we lose so much with the lack of mobility especially when neither Hall or Tino is in the team. It’s not massively eye-catching if one of them gets the ball, beats a man or two and wins a free kick or throw in after advancing the ball 40 or 50 yards down the field. But they are both capable of doing that multiple times in a match. And it has a huge effect on how we can play, how the wingers can make runs from different starting positions, how it releases pressure when we’re defending, how the opposition wide players have to work harder and take up different starting positions, etc., etc.

And the bizarre pre-match opening ceremony -
A scouser Liverpool fan I worked with (technically he was from the Wirral) reckoned it’s used to take the piss out of Man Utd after they drop ‘football club’ from the badge on their kits. Not sure if that’s true or just an excuse for their superiority complex. Doesn’t really excuse or explain pundits using either way.

United *clap, clap, clap* was a very popular chant at our matches. Does it ever even get sung now by our lot?

If you avoid places that don’t like the English you’ll be severely restricting your choices tbh I’ve only been to the north but the people are absolutely class (with usual caveat that you get twats everywhere). It’s very like the north east in some ways I found. And I would absolutely love to see the west coast of Ireland

They just hadn’t taken them down from last year
