It can lead to further complications like the lung scarring others have mentioned. In rare cases it can be fatal but that’s usually when there are other underlying conditions. He should make a full recovery. There’s a good chance he’s in private care and it might not have led to a hospitalisation normally and this is precautionary. Because I think it would’ve been leaked sooner if he was in somewhere like the RVI.
