Being a cnut again, but biggest transfer doesn't mean much unless its on a time scale. We bought ginola for 2.5mil, but 2.5mil back then is 13.5mil now. Like these signings tho, we're getting depth in the squad at last.

He might have been a legend, but at the time of his dismissal a not insubstantial amount of fans did turn on him. Calling him for being too old, losing his memory and wanting him out. In my section I was a minority in saying he was doing well and we were at the peak of our ability. But oh no, people wanted the title and blamed him for finishing in the top 5. just saying like..

Lascelles should be captain, I like what I'm seeing in preseason - having two "junior" centre backs and a veteran, with Champions league experience to help them on. Over the next 2 years, this could show itself as a master stroke. Janmatt is another of those players that I think gets a really rough ride from this forum, for me, you can't question his will to win and I understand him getting totally fucked off and losing it last year - that side was fuckin awful at times. I wouldn't give him captain though as some players just don't have the required temperament , but I honestly can't seem him leaving the club at the moment.

ok, I'll take over where CT left off. I predict this year will hopefully reduce the hate towards Gouffran and let him end his time here with a positive note. A player who arrived as a half decent forward, pardewed into a defensive left midfield role and professionally gimped - I'm hoping from what I've seen in preseason that Rafa is going to attempt to unpardew him and play him up front as he should be played. He'll get goals hopefully, as long as they aren't 2 foot away ;-)

sounds fair enough, shame though really as I think the new format is a good idea. They just left it far too late to be messing people around, this should have been agreed at least a season in advance, right now they seem to be getting trouble getting subscribers to it...

Yep, agree. If these Caribbean guys are dissing him then the thought that a good performance in the euro's would turn peoples heads is probably off mark. Saw the show again yesterday, the website was optastatspro - I couldn't find any "publicly available" stats on players though, but I didn't look that hard. -

Yep wish I could remember the name of the site.... all agents use it nowadays apparently and its open to the public.... made a lot of sense, I've often wondered , why he can cross perfect balls when we've the box loaded , but not when he's just Mitro in there, for example. So, if they are right, then me saying he's no football brain and only pace/strength is totally off the mark, his brain must be working overtime if he's worried about the stats for every single move he makes. -

Yup, was watching the local football show , which is pretty good , they play subbuteo while doing it. Anyhow, they were saying that a well known uk agent reckons he plays for some stats website I've never heard of. So hed rather shoot on target if scoring isn't nailed on and will only cross if he's pretty sure it will count as "completed", he'll pass to a marked man rather than chance a throughball etc. I think they are onto something, it characterises him perfectly imo. -

yep, and I'd be surprised if that was to go to Palace. If it were everton, Liverpool, etc then yeah he'll go. But palace, naaah. Also, if he goes to Palace he's risking his reputation as one of those players that is often in relegated sides. It'll only be twice, but that's enough for most of these fuckin brain dead commentators we have to listen to nowadays.

WHS. Townsend might well stay. If we're going to pay the wages and these players cause a storm in the Championship its probably a better option for them than going into the reserves again. How in hell Townsend wasn't picked regularly is beyond me, he really looks like he has the ability to influence games.

We've also got Rafa now, so there's a chance we can still attract quality. Out of favor or unsettled in their current club quality, that is. DK - Short of cash and quality is what we've had for the past 2 years , according to ashleys "the bank is bust" bollox anyway.

Fish is bang on - we don't buy defenders because they aren't likely to increase their resell value. We need defenders - how you can say we did ok when we were playing Colback and Anita as wide defenders is beyond me.
