Unfortunately any decent kind of journalism is notoriously difficult to get into and you almost always have to do the non-descript local crappy news to build up your reputation and get anywhere. It was always my first career of choice (journalism or any kind of writing in general) but it didn't happen for various reasons. I write less and less now and sometimes wish it's something I'd pursued.
