I don't see his approach as cowardly, I see it as strategic - aye, it's not going to appeal to leftier lefties - but it is exactly what is needed to win an election. His position of keeping his mouth shut and letting the tories sink themselves is the correct one IMO.

I mean I know it isn't going to be a cinematic masterpiece, and it's pretty much going to be carried by the one capable actor in the whole film but it's roadhouse so as long as someone takes a ridiculously telegraphed roundhouse kick it'll be a worthwhile film to play on my phone during.

He almost made you miss the halcyon days of Pardew pre-takeover, didn't he? (at least he did with me ).
