    The money in this window has been truly mental, I'll grant, but there were bargains to be had. Martins Indi at 7m, Gibbs at 7m, Jota at 6m, even Wood at 15m wasn't atrocious value for money, he's probably better than Mitrovic will ever be and we paid 12m for that plank. All of those players would've improved the squad. Grosicki was another good option who wouldn't have broken the bank. Ryad Boudebouz moved for pennies. Snodgrass on loan wouldn't have lit the world aflame but probably would've improved us. None of those would've even scratched our 12-year-old record signing. Basically there are no excuses for this travesty. Everything we and Rafa were told was lies. The war chest was bullshit, sell-to-buy (which Rafa admirably did, an entire XI of absolute deadwood was shifted this summer, some of which I will grant he bought) was also bullshit, wipe our own noses was bullshit, it was all lies from the start. Just another day at NUFC.

    In a second, and that pains me to say considering that I never wanted him in the first place. The years have not been kind to him but he's done the job before and I'd be confident in him to get some goals. Again, I'm not writing Gayle off, but we're going to need more than just him.

    If Mitrovic is a donkey, I have no idea what Riviere was. He had a fluke season and scored a fair-to-good amount of goals in a fair-to-good league and we chomped hard, thanks to our amazing continentally-renowened scouting team consisting of Alan Carr's dad. Good riddance.

    When was the last time we had a player who could actually play the #10 position? Perez definitely can't do it - to be honest, I really struggle identifying just what position Perez is playing at any given time, which leads me to believe he is supposed to be "in the hole" but is just doing it very very badly.

    Yes, let me restate that. If we continue to play with Gayle as a lone striker with this midfield setup we're going to go down. We either need better creative midfielders, a real #10 (not Perez or pipe-cleaner-man De Jong), or to play with two strikers. I don't know which of those is most likely, but as it looks none of them are particularly likely at all.

    Huddersfield are shit - we might be worse. Merino has been a total non-contributor. And I'll say this now: I know we have to keep faith with the players who got us promotion, etc etc, but if we start many more games with Gayle as a lone striker we're going to go down. He simply doesn't have what it takes to play that role in the PL.

    Lejeune looked good to be fair. Murphy at 12m was looking good when we thought it was only going to be the beginning of our summer spending, but now spending 12m (the majority of what we have, evidently) on an unproven player is looking very questionable. Merino is a loan, Manquillo is a PL reject, Atsu is a PL reject (good signing imo all the same), Joselu is a PL reject, and Kenedy is a PL reject. Tepid has not even been the word for this transfer window. If we end the window with Gayle, Mitrovic, and Joselu as our strikers we are fucked beyond belief, I'll go on record as saying that now.

Everyone does not need to "join together to end hatred" or "share their viewpoints in legitimate discussion." All sides are not to blame. There is no middle ground on this issue. Those people represent the antithesis of what Western civilization has achieved. They are the terrorists of the Western world and they should be treated as such.

    We'll politely call that a "workmanlike" half of football, but we looked like a Rafa team, well-drilled and disciplined. Atsu has been the best player comfortably, he's had the beating of Walker-Peters every time. Commentator on NBC mentioned a lack of faith from Perez and Gayle that he was going to get the ball into the box, and I agree with that. There was no risk from our forwards, no dangerous runs, so all Atsu's endeavor went to waste.

    I'd swap Aarons for Murphy and Merino for Hayden. Rafa is likely to start Dummett over Gamez. Apart from that I think we may well see that lineup.

    Winger isn't he? Rubbish anyway, I hope this isn't what we're reduced to. I don't care at all about his China comments - the furor over that was a perfect nonsense - but the fact remains that he just isn't very good, and we have loads of wingers already.
