  1. I recall reading on another website that Pardew was negotiating his contract with the club while Hughton was still in his job. I'm not going into the details but it was a very credible source. Pardew subsequently said the first he heard about the job was when Hughton was sacked and the club got in touch. Blatantly an absolute lie and proof, if any were needed, that the man has the morals of an alleycat, the heart of a weasel, and the truthfulness of Reginald Pryor. You wouldn't expect him to answer that question honestly though would you? Would you expose your bosses as lying scumbags on day one of the biggest job of your life? tbh it's easily dealt with. You just say "Look, I'm not going to get into that. Next question." Instead he chose to tell a barefaced lie, because it comes naturally. It's naive to think that that response would put an end to the question. It's also naive to think that a million and one managers who have gone before him also haven't fibbed in that situation.

  3. Maybe symptomatic of simpler times. There was very little competition for the EC at the time. Nowadays Ryder's only competitive advantage is if he stays in bed with FMA and Pardew and continues to get fairly exclusive access to the manager away from press conferences.
  4. I don't think that there has ever been a time when the NUFC journalists have towed the company line as over the last season or so. Nobody dare criticise for fear of being banned. They are miles away from the groundswell of opinion amongst fans.
  5. It's opera season I would have thought. I've been a couple of times and it's a very memorable experience and one I would highly recommend. The locals know a thing or two about warbling, the night before I went they booed off Jose Careras.
  6. Yeah, this is why it is amazing that he's got as many followers as he has... It goes to show just how desperate your average geordie is for football gossip.
  7. Evening standard suggesting chelski have made an official approach for tiote. £15m floated. They'll be holding out for more than that!
  8. Nicholas Bendtner linked in the Metro this morning... Probably about as good as we can hope for tbh.
  9. I realise he's a proven bullshitter, but cwarr appeals to my transfer window desperation for good news! Now claiming a deal's been done for our 'top target'.
  10. Aye, totally agree. I've mentioned before I'd settle for a bit of honesty if nowt else. It would probably make it easier for themselves in the long run too. Of course, it assumes they have a strategy. Howay man, in this instance you can not expect them to be honest. Nothing would reignite the protests/empty SJP faster than 'we're just here for the money'
  11. Don is a Vic and Bob character. I liked them at the time, I now think they are largely shite. Donald is the brother of David Stott, they are brothers from Shildon. There was also a poster on here called David Stott. His was a fleeting visit (unlike mine).
  12. What's the fucks that got to do with it. They don't get to play extra men cos they're cheap you know. They sold Bent and needed to replace him, paying less than £9m would mean that they had in no way replaced Bent.
  13. does two caps for sierra leone get you a work permit nowadays?. bloody tory government.
  14. Agreed. Those that we have played there have been more naturally centre halves - Ramage, Saylor and Edgar
  15. At this stage, the wheeling and dealing is positive. To be honest, I don't really care whether we spend every penny of the Carroll fee, what matters is that the transfer dealings we do improve the team and the squad. And regardless of fees paid, we have a better team and a better squad now than at the end of the season. Three players in, seemingly Barnetta and Taylor to follow. I know it's cliched but Bafra and Gosling are like new signings. Now, that's not to say that the board doesn't have the propensity to royally fuck it all up.
  16. That rings bells with me, but googling it suggests there was talk of a new deal but nothing came of it. He's still got two years on his existing deal mind.
  17. The internet - "getting people out of the wrong since 1993"
  18. What was lacking last season more than anything is an injection of pace. Hopefully those that he's looking to bring in can bring that to the side. Looks like decent business to me.
  19. With everyone fit he doesn't get in the team. Nolan can see that, Pardew knows that, FMA knows that. So it's in the interests of all parties to go their seperate ways. Nolan doesn't need to sit on the bench with his metabolism he'd be 18 stone by christmas. I agree with Alex that he hit a purple patch last season. I find it interesting that no other premier league team have bought him.
  20. I doubt the 5-a-side league has any afiliation with the FA, so it won't affect Sunday or Saturday football. The 5 a-side league I ref in would ban you from future games though. As for the second half of that sentence it's amazing how many times you hear that - "I'm ganna lamp him and it'll be your fault" - which is just utter bollocks. I'm afraid you've got to take responsibility for your own actions. No denying I shouldn't have kicked out, but at the end of the day this had been going on all game. If the ref doesn't deal with it then eventually its going to boil over and something will happen. I wasn't looking for a fight, I was trying to get on with the game, and what I did was in a mad moment of retaliation. I'm not gonna have some divvy punching me in the back and then trying to break my leg without eventually reacting. Aye I dont play Saturday or Sunday footy so its a ban from the 5-a-side that i'm worried about, how long do you think i'll get if I do get one? Depends how on the ball the league are. Our lot would probably ban you for a couple of games. What I would do though is complain about the other team, see if they are causing other teams problems. Threaten to leave if necessary, invariably teams like that get kicked out of the leagues I ref at. It doesn't sound like the ref you've got is particularly strong, but it is difficult especially when players are deliberately kicking off behind their backs. No ref in their right mind would take action on something they haven't seen.

  22. Peter crouch to Sunderland is doing the rounds on twitter. From old wobbly face as well.
  23. ?????? Have just read this on the Chronicle web site and the word fantastic is in speech marks and the article goes on to quote the direct quote from Pardew containing the words fantastic............Conspiracytastic or what. PS, Shame on you sheep for lapping this up without simply checking Feel free to point out the speech marks in the headline.. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-u...72703-28775381/?
