The days of me giving a flying fuck what my ringtone is were two decades ago. It's nothing more than a functional piece of kit nowadays. Ringtones are for cocks who use their phone as a status symbol and answer the phone 'ciao'.

Been offered a "fantastic" new contract according to the Chron The headline is - Fantastic new contract on the table for Jose Enrique Have some editorial integrity ffs. Fantastic according to who, the chron, the club, enrique, lee ryder's mum. Speech marks would at least make it less sycophantic

I think that's right. They're tieing younsters down to long deals but don't want over the hill and overpaid 'stars' anymore. Which we've had too many of in the past.

The Beeb never run transfer tittle tattle, unless they've got a decent source. Someone's obviously got a bum steer.

Assuming he means adding to the squad, I think if we can get everyone fully fit, it's probably is only 1 or 2 that are needed. Ben Arfa and Gosling, are like new signings. I'd like to think the likes of Vuckic, Richardson, Ferguson and Airey are pushing for first team football next season too. If it's one or two players in and another 5 out then that's going to be a disaster.

The NUFC Summer Search for Strikers Station
donaldstott replied to Ayatollah Hermione's topic in Newcastle Forum
He doesn't fit the model, he's old and reasonably expensive. Fingers crossed that rules him out. -
What is the value of a player though Ant? He's just turned 18 and has scored 15 senior goals. 15 more than Carroll at that age, 12 more than Shearer at that age. I've watched him for England U18s as well, if this kid doesn't make it then something is wrong, he's the real deal, big lad too. Worst case scenario is he's shite and we sell him for 6s to a Villa/Wigan type club. You boys can dream on with your prices. Whickham will go for North of £10m because he is English, a striker and has loads of potential. (like Carroll). And if you think that Chelsea would let go of Sturridge for £8m you need your bumps feeling. Treble that and you might be nearer. Not forgetting Sturridge's wage demands. He left Manchester City to go to Chelsea for the money. And they're not two clubs who are exactly averse to throwing a few quid around.

The girl who kicked the hornets nest - Probably worst of the trilogy. Still worth watching though. Inception - If you haven't seen it, do so. Great movie. -
This lot would make the squad look a little healthier: Taiwo Wickham Clint Dempsey James McCarthy Ireland Larsson And an audacious punt for Phil Jones.

i wouldn't move Barton anywhere. He's been a fantastic on the right. He doesn't need pace cos his delivery from deep is great.
-
The worry is how much you need to spend to buy anything like a decent replacement. How much did city have to pay for Dzeko? Whatever it was it was too much, he's gash.

Interesting story in the Evening Standard the last few days. Tottenham trying to claim that this chant is not racist... Adebayor, Adebayo-oo-or! Your dad washes elephants, your mum is a whore!

I'm gonna need to see your workings for this calculation. FWIW, I can't recall the last time someone referred to NUFC as 'united' in conversation, it's always Newcastle, the toon, the town, even 'the lads' before it's 'united'. To expect Simpson to place some importance on a phrase that he'll barely be exposed to is unrealistic.

Tell you what, kids are a bundle of germs. I've had my current cold for about three weeks, which has included conjunctivitis, headaches, flu symptoms, runny nose, sore throat and a cough. One after the next. I guess he's being exposed to lots of germs from other kids and i'm picking up lots of new strains that i'm not normally exposed to. Otherwise, I've got the weakest girly ankles from going over on them too much playing football.

Next four games look crucial. 8-10 points and we're in with a shout. (this won't happen)

Well you can safely count Villa out, that leaves the dippers.... I think that is his likely destination, but just not sure if they've got the wedge? They only splashed the cash in January safe in the knowledge that Torres was off.

Three movies in one weekend for me... In order of preference The Social Network - Very good 8/10 True Grit - Looks great and a good tale 7/10 Wall Street money never sleeps - Pretty dismal fare (oddly Shia LeBouef actually makes it beter) 4/10 The latter not helped by the missus' questions about how investment banking/trading actually works. -
From Pardew in the Journal. Not exactly certain that is it?
-
The numbers being touted for Enrique are a bit worrying. £6m covers his original transfer fee but he's an infinitely better player now than then.
-
More than a bit... You can see his jaw..
-
It's a good job he arrived like. I can see us going 4-6-0 for the rest of the season seeing out 10 of the last 15 games 0-0 and finishing pretty on 40 points.
-
I'm going. Not exactly looking forward to it.

Andy Carroll aftermath(press conf/interviews etc)

Be interesting to see whether the club report Liverpool for tapping up the player. How else would he know what his potential new salary was? -
Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll

Sounds about right as well. Their propaganda machine is akin to Nazi Germany, it's the lies, deceipt and lack of trust they engender that upsets me the most about this regime. They're close to being scum, I'd respect them much more if they just told the truth. No one likes liars. I've no doubt that those texts are spot on. You're right like Stevie. If they'd said "We couldn't turn it down, it's too much for a player with only half a season under his belt" then i'd understand. This smokescreen says that they don't understand the Newcastle is a village thing yet. -
It looks like an offer that would be very difficult to refuse, but replacing him is going to be very difficult. Firstly in attracting a suitable replacement and secondly in paying their exorbitant wages.
