http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6220620,00.html Newcastle are looking to broker a deal for Bolton's Jlloyd Samuel, skysports.com understands. The 27-year-old has been with Bolton since 2007 after leaving his first club Aston Villa. He has been a first-team regular at The Reebok, playing anywhere across the back four. Now he has emerged as a target for Newcastle boss Chris Hughton - who is hoping to strike a deal for the Trinidad & Tobago international. Samuel, 29, has one-year left on his current contract and Newcastle are hoping they can land their man for less than £1.5million. 27 or 29, 27 or 29, 27 or 29 J-Lloyd Samuel!!!

The opposite for me, I never had it when i was a bairn, but as soon as I reached 30 it started to kick in. I don't get it too bad but I cut the lawn on Friday and couldn't control the sneezing. It feels like a cold without any of the other symptoms. Seems pretty bad this morning too, said on the weather that the gress pollen was high so I assume it is grass pollen hayfever that I have.

A couple of observations... Transits are faster than most normal cars and therefore rock. I know a number of people who have problems with Mercs and BMWs in the snow, which is a pretty poor show. But of course it doesn't snow in Germa .. Oh wait!

Wrong. Please try again. Anchorman - Slightly humerous at times, at other times rather stupid - 7/10 ? I suppose that's the best we can hope from you. (Oh and it's humorous, but that really couldn't matter less.) 68 per cent of the time, Kevin's wrong all of the time. -
I reckon we'll scrape through.

Car history: Fiat Punto 1.2 (mam's handmedown) VW Polo 1.2 (dreadful stripy seatcovers) Citreon Saxo (with a particularly nasty bodykit) Mini One D (loved it) VW Polo TDI (good car but was yellow so hated it) Mini Cooper D Lots of very small cars. Love my current car, but it's too small now with the baby. I fancy a Volvo, but that's my age!!

As CT said it depends where you are, in Reading the prices have been maintained. We bought in 2005 for 165k and have just sold for 200k.

Says all you need to know about Maradona if he thinks Jonas is a better option at right back than Javier Zanetti. Or for that matter that Higuain is better option up front that Diego Milito. He's gonna win the golden boot now I've said that!

Meant to mention this yesterday but Howard Webb laid down a marker in the Spain game. After being given the Champions League final he'll be after the World Cup final. He was close to everything. He was getting right in to the corners and must have run 15km. It was pretty impressive performance physically, but he seeemed to let quite a lot go, which might count against him.

That's five years on the bounce Manchester United have started the season at home... A fucking joke.

I like Pedro as well. For a youngster his movement and ability to find space are exceptional.

As he hobbles off...

Derdiyok looks quality. We were linked/in for him a couple of years ago iirc?

Not a holiday (that's in a fortnight or so) but I've just got back off a stag do in Scotland. One night in Glasgow followed by two nights at an outdoor activity centre on Loch Linnie, Argyll and Bute. Canyonning was great. Had a cracking weekend in some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. I would really like to go back and see some more of the Highlands, especially the Western Isles. BUT I would be put off by the hordes of midges which ate me to bits. What a pain in the arse the little bastards are.

On .com this morning, the last line if true is another head shaking moment for NUFC. WTF is the club doing telling journalists off for reporting speculation. When will the blunders stop and when will they get it in to their dense heads that you can not control the media, especially not in a city as hungry for footy news as Newcastle. Comments from Chris Hughton as reported in The Chronicle on Monday, following his return from holiday: “You always continue to take calls and our business has been on-going. There’s been talk about Sol Campbell and Andy O’Brien in the past and there are always names that keep coming up – but we have not looked into signing those players. “And Jimmy Bullard is another player that has not been mentioned. There are some players we are interested in and we’re open-minded about those options.” That trio of players had all been linked to the club in recent days - whether the rags that did the linking have received more of the recently-circulated knuckle-rapping letters from NUFC is unreported.

Go on then, 30 please

I took it with a pinch of salt, but the homegrown player rules makes players like Carroll more attractive. It will also inflate prices for the young homegrown players (thus Villa turning down £24m for Milner).

The "I'll look in to it and get back to the honourable member" response has been trotted out by PMs for years. It's nowt new. TBF to cameron there is no way he can have a handle on every issue three weeks after taking office and I have respect for him for not bullshitting his way out of it.

Yaya Toure has signed for a Premier League club....

All the bookies seem to be doing each way bets for the world cup at 1/2 the odds for getting in to the final. Anyone know of a bookies offering 1/4 the odds for placing 1-4.

You can only sell players that want to go. I'm sure he'd have loved to have sold a few more players but they were unwilling to give up their lucrative contracts (which he gave them). I'm sure there are a few that he'd have had out the door earlier, it doesn't change the fact all of the players who have left either clearly wanted out (Given, Zog, Milner, Martins, Bassong, Beye), or who the club were happy to be shot of (Geremi, Owen, Cacapa, Viduka) because they routinely underperformed. If Carroll wants to stay (as today's Chron states) then there is no precedent under FMA to suggest he will be sold.
-
In fairness to FMA he's only sold players that either wanted to go or that the club didn't want. Carroll wants to stay, he wants a new deal, I can't see him going anywhere other than whereever he ends up doing community service.
