I agree, I think he is very wrong. The nucleus of players we have are the ones who contributed to our downfall. The influx of new players are not the same quality of the ones who left the sunken ship. Simpson is nowhere near tha standard of Beye. Williamson is questionable in regards to Bassong. Best hasn't come even close to Martins. Routledge might be a winner in regards to Duff or Milner. Without additional quality players I honestly can't see us staying up with what we have.......but I'd like to think so. I personally think Habib's good first season has clouded a few peoples judgement of him. He was average in the relegation season, when we saw him on the pitch (which wasn't very often) he looked distinctly off the pace. Whilst undoubtedly a better player than Simpson, at the very least Simpson plays a lot of games and has helped keep a settled back four this season.

My priority list does rely on Vuckic being fucking amazing!!!

As has been said previously I think we'll see a lot of Nolan (or perhaps Vuckic) playing behind Carroll esp away from home. At home against the weaker teams we're likely to see Carroll and Lovenkrands. For me, the priority is a new right back. Then a defensive midfielder. Then a striker, but given the expense of a 15-goals-a-season man - I can't see it.

What an ingenious way to completely deflate the fragile confidence of the squad and management ahead of the new season. Hughton's got a job for the next 5 seasons cos no manager in his right mind would come in to a situation like that..

I've never had any real affinity with Spurs but they've got a good, young side that plays attractive football. They deserved to win last night and I think they'll do well in the CL. And in fairness to saggyface he's really got the previously ordinary Bale, Assou Ekkotto, Dawson and Huddelstone performing regularly..

As an aside, CH has already said Vuckic is going to be in the first team squad next season, so he may not actually be looking for a striker. When? Didnt think Vuckic was a striker like....what do i know... It's in that article above. My understanding is that he can play midfield or behind a central striker.

I would take a punt on his team mate Ledley on a free and keep my fingers crossed his hips aren't "Shola'd". I'm not sure how good he is, doesn't seem to score many goals, on the hips front, he seems to have played a decent number of games this season.

I see. I've nothing against spending big on the right player, but it's the wasted millions on dross that has to stop.

On the other side of that : Shearer £15m Sir Les : £6m Speed : £5m Hamann : £4.5m Dyer : £6m Bellamy : £6m Robert : £9.5m Woodgate : £9m Considering their status when we bought them I don't think any of those (aside from Sir Les) were particularly cheap.

You know what, the noises coming out about limited budget are well overdue. For years we have been seen as a cash cow for other clubs to milk dry. £8million for Boumsong, £10million for Luque, Owen for £16m, Viana for £8.5m, Carl Cort for £7m, Coloccini for £10m etc etc, it's almost as if the toon come along and an extra couple of million gets added on. At least negotiations around players will start and end at reasonable levels.
