  1. Can't agree with that. Somebody drew the comparison with Beckham, who kept the captaincy despite the Rebecca Loos affair. But Terry is different, you're then asking players (potentially including Wayne Bridge) to respect a man who would quite happily shag his mate and teammates missus. He's supposed to be a conduit between players and manager, how can he carry out that duty if Bridge is in the squad. I agree re: the press, but they'll never let a good story get in the way of anything.
  2. I have always regretted not travelling properly after I left school. My rubbish A-level results procluded it. I went inter-railing for a summer during uni but it's not the same. I plan to do 3 week tour of Northern India, but may be a while given the impending arrival.
  3. I have mixed feelings. You look at the list of players that have gone and you'd have to say that there is no way we are as well off. But it has become very apparent that the business model was unsustainable. What is more, we have far fewer liabilities on the wage bill - Geremi, Owen, Viduka, Duff, Beye and Martins were either shit or missed too many games. However the squad lacks quality and I think that we will need 3 midfielders and a striker significantly better than we have just to stay up.
  4. That's the issue, in all likelihood Terry and Bridge won't start a game together, but there is no better 2nd choice left back around. He might take Lescott in the knowledge that he can play in 2 positions.
  5. Think this lad has made a good start, he looks fit despite the lack of games, we've kept two clean sheets and he looks a solid defender.
  6. STA travel is worth a look. This looks awesome. In fact, I might sack off the wife and the unborn child and book it now!! Route 1 - from £739 UK - Mumbai - overland - Singapore - Melbourne - Los Angeles - overland - New York - UK http://www.statravel.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/uk...nal-flights.htm

tbf her only remaining family are her step-children. Her husband died around a year ago (also in his early 50s). She was very much WYSIWYG which she was proud of and her family probably saw it as dis-respect to portray her as anything else. Had more balls that all of the other ministers responsible over the years for NI put together. The Good Friday agreement was because of her - Clinton fully acknowledges that. Blair just lapped up the reward and shit all over her basically. I didn't know that. His naked painting was something I could have done without!!
  8. You would like to think that he'd get more chances and score more goals in a team playing with confidence and top of the league than a team who couldn't be more midtable.

Interesting to find out if her family were happy with the portrayal. She came across as foul-mouthed, aggresive and outragious, but nevertheless a very caring, very competent politician. The moment she realises that the tumour may have been responsible for her gregarious personality must have been very difficult.
  11. When the sale of him is going to stop crystal palace going bankrupt you can hardly blame them for protected him until he goes, dont think ashley will be willing to spend a few million to bring him here though. is he really that much better than beckford? From what I've seen of him (admittedly not much) he's a better all round player. I think you've also got to take into account that with Moses you'll be paying for oodles of potential, with Beckford you're paying for the finished article. And the finished article is not particularly good.
  12. The chron have dug out a couple of video of Van Arnholt. Whilst experience suggests Youtube isn't the greatest method of assessing a footballer he certainly is quick and likes to go forward.

  14. It suddenly turned in to Siberia outside my Newbury office window. Strong winds and snow for all of 3 minutes and then stopped!!
  15. The dream of an all Taylor defence has been shattered after the lanky centre half signed for Watford on a free.
  16. Stefano Okaka is undergoing a medical ahead of a loan switch to Fulham from Roma, which rules them out you would imagine.
  17. Apparently he's waiting for a call from Real Madrid. http://www.newcastle.vitalfootball.co.uk/a...le.asp?a=186396 If we get this kid I'll be staggered, Stevie's evaluation looks about right. We might of course stand aside and let Liverpool sign him.
  18. Not kidding, if they snaffle up Victor Moses I will have to say that the board has done an excellent job this window. They quite rightly haven't paid over the top for Kilgallon and Beckford and they've moved quickly to bring in cover for injured defenders. It's not particularly forward thinking as I'm not sure whether Routledge/Williamson are Prem quality but given the pressure being exerted by Forest and WBA we need players to get us out of the division first.
  19. That's bang out of order. Former players should not have to put up with that!! http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...5892961,00.html Michael Chopra has defended his actions after being spat on by a Newcastle United fan on Wednesday. The Cardiff City striker, who was watching Newcastle's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, reportedly hit a Toon fan after he asked for a photograph with the former United and Sunderland striker. However, Chopra insists he lashed out after being provoked. Chopra thought he was taking part in a photo session only for his Sunderland past to be called into question. The ex-Magpies frontman was then spat on, forcing him to do everything he could to get away from his attacker. "He spat in my face and I did what I had to do to defend myself. He was bang out of order," he told the Daily Mirror. "He asked me for a photo and I agreed to that but then he started videoing me and asking me why I had played for Sunderland and what it was like to play for them. "He spat in my face and called me names and then I had to get him off me. "I don't know if anyone from the club got hold of him after that but I did not involve the stewards or the police. "The fan was completely out of order. All I did was get him off me."
