  1. I'd be livid but I wouldn't be surprised. And I would blame the overspending of the Shepherd regime
  2. bartons more mobile and passes the ball better and gets up and back better than nolan. when fit of course.. he's no holding player. Nolan has shown that he will score goals when he plays in the hole, Barton has never played there. Asking Barton to play in midfield he doesn't mean he needs to be a holding player, rather he needs to sit alongside Alan Smith, make tackles where necessary, show off his passing and generally get box to box.
  3. An arbitary single wage cut off doesn't make sense, surely an overall weekly wage budget would be a much better idea. If we can get shot of Geremi (again) that would remove three wages off the roster (inc Harewood and Khiz), so there must be something in the pot for paying Simpson the wage he wants. If I were Hughton I'd settle for getting Simpson. I think we can muddle through with the strikers we have and with Barton to come back that would allow Nolan to play in a more advanced area.
  4. Agree with all of that I thought Enrique had a real off day...
  5. It takes a brand an eternity to recover, Skoda has been producing excellent cars for years, but there are still no doubt an awful lot of people who wouldn't touch them and would rather spend thousands more for essentially the same VW.
  6. If Simpson leaves that means 5 defenders left at the club (this includes Kadar and Ryan Taylor, who looks decidedly shaky at right back) . That would be absolutely suicidal.
  7. Just got back from that. Unlike you I thought it was excellent, Clooney was very good, it was an original story, with some lovely moments and no shortage of laughs.
  8. The Filth Axeman and the disasters
  9. Bristol City game put back to 5.20pm as well, which scuppers the Easyjet flight back the same day..
  10. FWIW I reckon there's a subtle difference between 'borderline boiler' and 'you know you shouldn't'. Stephanie Beecham, is certainly not a borderline boiler, but you might still jump her elderly bones, even though you know you shouldn't.

  12. Aye even the usual ones people (including me) name like Lisa Tarbuck and Lorraine Kelly aren't exactly foul. I'd tear my right arm off and beat my missus to death for a go on Claudia Winkleman.
  13. Anything bigger you say, what like a grand piano? or Nelson's column.
  14. Went to see The Road last night. Wasn't particularly impressed, it had everything you'd expect from a film with Vigo Mortensen, it was quite long, very little happens, there was a quite nonedescript ending and he gets naked. I'm sure that the critics are raving about it, but that's because they exist in a different educational cultural sphere to me, one where shitty becomes gritty. Saw Sherlock Holmes a while back, it's the complete opposite, leave your brain at the door and enjoy the ride. Well worth a look.
  15. I'm doing a luxury fish pie for tea tonight. Gonna wash it down with circa three bottles of red wine. If tomorrow is not a write-off it's because I fell asleep halfway through the second bottle!!
  16. That horse has not only bolted it's got stuck in a snow drift near Alston.
  17. Bollocks. Means I have to spend the weekend with my wife...
  18. This isn't exactly the face of someone who is sure of what's going on. It's says 'Are you sure I should be getting my picture taken' to me..
  19. I'm glad you mentioned this one, as it boils my piss and is the most laughably bad ad I've seen for ages... Playing footy on a beach in a suit Playing golf on a beach in a pair of jeans Riding a horse on the beach They stroll through the lobby, which has children in it (i.e. family friendly) yet they've apparently deserted their own kids What look like business class seats on a Thomas Coook plane But more fundementally, are we really supposed to believe that the Redknapps would go on a Thomas Cook holiday. Pure shite it is!!
  20. You must be Sherlock Holmes. Talk about stating the bleeding obvious. Possibly the least inciteful "you heard it hear first" I've ever seen.
  21. Leeds got 38k versus Liverpool, 36k against Huddersfield and 31k against Charlton. They clearly come out for the big games. The rest of the games they average about 22k (which is still pretty impressive, given the trauma they've gone through).
  22. Sounds familiar, left Newbury at 2.15pm. Got to junction 12 of M4 by 3.00pm, reached a queue on the A4 ten mins later and it took until 9.15pm to do the three miles to my house. Seven hours to do less than 25 miles or in truth 6 hours to do 3 miles. I'm working from home today.
  23. I honestly don't think we should be buying anybody for the Championship. Unless they are of Premiership standard then lets not put them on the wage bill. What we have is good enough to get us up.
  24. Probably going to walk along to my local, have a few pints and get on the free bus to the ground.
