  1. This is the very nature of limited liability- the West Ham shares held by the Icelandic parent company can be sold off like any other asset in order to repay creditors. If anything they are now probably the cheapest PL club going as the stake in the club will be sold at a fire sale price. There's absolutely nothing untoward here. Luton Town as a football club on a stand-alone basis went into administration three times and deserved everything they got.

    Given !!

Give or take a few hundred games.
  3. They changed mine for free. Have you tried threatening to switch?
  4. Yeah, like it's optional.
  5. Within 10 minutes of coming on he'd worked himself instinctively into three good goalscoring positions. Our other strikers would take a season to manage that. He's the only one who knows how to play as a striker. Owen's future is so critical I think it could prove an influence over a new choice of manager.
  6. We certainly dodged a bullet there. Shame we were stabbed up the arse round the next corner.
  7. Looking like a possible no-show for me. I'm seriously snowed under.
  8. More down to the fact that LIBOR (the real cost to banks) went down by over 1% today. Aside from that, it was a marketing and political decision rather than a financial one. I doubt given the choice anyone would want to be issuing mortgages right now. What I can't work out is how 'shaming' banks into lending money cheaply is going to ameliorate a problem caused by erm.... banks lending too cheaply.
  9. It can't be as cold as it was last year.

    Peasepud

    Have a good one pud!
  11. Going to try to get 3 tickets on the general sale. All who wish to join in, say aye and I'll see if I can get a block together. Shame it's a sunday otherwise a well-sized night out would surely have ensued.
  12. I think we have more debts owed on players than we owe to others, so that will be discounted- they're really talking about the long-term borrowing that Ashley was obliged to settle as part of the takeover.
  13. Just as well you work in the city and are privy to this insider info or we would be completely in the dark about it. TBF I dont think your average geordie spends more time pouring over the business media rather than some grot site. Yeah. Geordies are too thick to spell poring right for example. We just really like pink papier maché
  14. A takeover wouldn't have been bank financed even before Keegan left- after what's happened at Liverpool no bank will want to finance a football club. The credit market just doesn't come into it, it's been out for months. The fall in commodity prices is probably a bigger factor.
  15. Water. That and tea are all I can manage.
  16. By law, you have to check out the parties involved as part of the Proceeds of Crime Act. So notwithstanding the fit and proper persons test, the club would have to have made some efforts to ensure that the funds have not come from a dubious source.
  17. Other than a death of a loved one or serious injury I cant think of a valid one. (pssst- some people who go to the games don't actually live in the area)
  18. That was for £40m or something though, wasn't it? This is a whole different ball game numbers wise. The club has been valued at around £200m. This is only going to go one way form here.
  19. I can think of a lot of people who would have very good excuses, actually- but see no reason why anyone should feel the need to justify themselves to you.
  20. I was assuming it was including a transfer kitty. Just having the money to buy the club and none to run it wouldnt make much sense If that's their approach, then I hope someone else comes in and buys the club. You cant just base a bid around how many faceless millionaires you get around the table. It's unworkable- and the sort of situation we're best away from.
