15 years service and the only worthwhile comments are that he played in an FA Cup Final and faced Juventus in the Champions League....

It's Spurs, so no. And Everton... two of the most bitter sets of fans you're ever likely to come across..... I'm fucking rejoicing! At least we made the semis a few years back - and didn't we knock out PSV?
-
Fuck me you wouldn't want to be buying a brand new 4x4 Best news of all though IMO. Shit. My dads got two Brand new ones?? I notice it does imply its £950 for the first year tax rate so i presume its a measure to try to put people off buying new ones rather than attacking those who already own them?

What I find more frustrating than anything about Viduka is that when he can be arsed, he's the perfect foil for either Smith, Martins or Owen.. We need to look for yet another big striker this summer - Ashton perhaps, particularly if he's as pissed off at West Ham as reports will have you believe.
-
The only time Smith looked anything like the player we all thought he could be was his first time out against Sampdoria when he played as an out and out striker... Why Ferguson, Allardyce and now Keegan have insisted on playing him in midfield is beyond the realm of comprehension. He's completely bloody ineffective. Agree to an extent with what 2J says - some of the hassle he gets crosses the line. For a bloke constantly being played out of position - he just gets on with it.

Am I the only thinking gigawatts??

Adding on, I forgot to mention this bit... Aparrently when the the lad's family hadn't heard from him they rang the support line and were told to head to Sheffield. When they asked if he'd been admitted to hospital, they were told they couldn't confirm and just told them to get there ASAP. When they got there, they asked the same question and were handed a bunch of polaroid photos - all numbered. Yep, you guessed it, photos of the dead. This family, not knowing if their son was alive or dead had to sift through dozens of photos of corpses not knowing if their child was going to be included in it. They didn't see him and only then were the hospital admission lists checked. When his name didn't come up, they were asked to check the photos again but more closely. This time they stopped on one that resembled him and when they said so, they were marched off to a room which was full of body bags - all numbered. The bag with the corresponding number to the photo was unzipped and there were asked there and then in a room full of bodies and other grieving relatives to identify him. Obviously he was in such a bad way that they'd not recognised him straight away. That to me is as fucking disgraceful as the police handling - totally inhumane! Why the fuck they couldn't have checked the hospital admission lists before the dead is beyond me! What makes it worse is that he had positive identification on him too. Why the need to check all the photos?

It is so nice to see that someone such as yourself, Craig has done a bit of homework and educated himself with facts, as oppose to shite that was printed in the rag just after that awful tragedy happened. This could have happened to any club and its supporters, and please God it never happens again. Had a chat with Jo about this one over the weekend to try to clarify what the 'Justice for 96' campaign is all about. Seeing as she lost one of her best mates at Hillsborough and knew the family well, I think she's well placed to. She says that the main gripe is with the timings that it took the police to react. The police claim that they were 'assisting' almost instantaneously where the J496 lot reckon it was a good 10-15 minutes before any help was forthcoming, by which point many had already died. See for yourself on the footage it's other fans who are using advertising hoardings as makeshift stretchers to take the injured and dying away and no police were in sight. Of course this suggests that the police watched people die and actually prevented some from escaping with their lives. On top of that there's reports that CCTV and paperwork which would prove this has been 'lost'. She added that Robbo (her mate who died - Steven Robinson I think) went with another lad (missed what his name was) and were down the front. The other lad managed to escape but was admitted into hospital that night with a shattered nose. His version of events is that he was trying to scale the fence to escape and was met with a policeman's truncheon full in the face and being ordered to "stay where the fuck he was!" Whether that is true or not we can only take his word on it but I can't imagine how a shattered nose could have been caused by the crushing. She says that she's under no illusion that it was all one sided and reckons some of their fans wouldn't have helped matters but even so, this was a massive failure in policing. Just talking about the events at this level was enough to have her in floods of tears 19 years on.. Like I said, we're all quick to say the scousers make the most of everything but the bottom line is that 2 of her mates went to a football match and one of them never came home. Think it would cut me up too...

Certain areas of Liverpool are fucking horrible, others not so bad... A real factor in why people have a bad opinion is that one of the worst places of all is Anfield/Everton itself and even die-hard scousers will agree with you on that one. Most of the housing around the ground is due for demolition as all part of the regeneration of the area. Most of them are boarded up and does resemble what Scotswood/Elswick was like in the late 80s. But then it is changing - it's not like they're leaving it as it is.... Another grotty shit-tip in the town is Kensington (go down Edge Lane when you come off the M62) but they're knocking that lot down too. Places like Aigburth, Otterspool, Waterloo, Crosby & Blundellsands are all pretty nice areas though.

The official Liverpool Vs Newcastle United Arse-raping thread
Craig replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
Evening all... finally made it back from Merseyside and thought I'd have a shifty at what's being said about the match... Dunno which game Sima was watching, but it certainly wasn't the same Liverpool v Newcastle match I was sat in the ground watching. Liverpool were worth the win, undoubtedly but 3-0 flattered them without a doubt. Considering the only other competitive match I've seen this season was the home match against Liverpool, it's easy to compare how we've changed as a team since the last meeting..... we're a million times better! Our backline was as flakey as ever and KK surely has to spend serious money on that in the summer. The number of times we were undone by square balls was untrue and it was only a matter of time before they did score. As for the goals: 1. Pennant's - totally freak goal, can't blame Enrique for it. Left footed player trying to clear the ball out of the area without conceeding a corner. Just one of them things sadly. 2. Torres' - world class goal. Our defence was foun wanting again but even when he got the ball there was plenty to do. The drop-shoulder dummy he sold Harper was sublime and guaranteed the ball would end up in the back of the net. 3. Gerrard's - This is the goal I do blame Enrique for. The ball broke free just inside our half and had they both run for it, it'd have been a 50:50 between Torres and Enique. Only our LB decided to stand still... The outcome was inevitable - great goal but frustrating to conceed. As for the players: Harper - not to blame for any of the goals and if it hadn't been for some good saves in the second half, we could have been looking at 4 or 5-0 Beye - very quiet throughout the whole match. Not as effective as I expected him to be. Enrique - can't blame him for the 1st goal but never-the-less, he falls way short of the mark. Best thing he did all match was punt a long ball for Martins to chase. Like a bull in a china shop, you know when a player takes him on, he'll either be beaten or he'll foul them. Faye - Fairly solid - seems assured in his position and reads the game well. Taylor - Headless chicken who seems to think he's the captain. Screaming instructions at everyone none of whom pay any attention to him. He'd be better of concentrating on his own game as it falls way short of the standard. Milner - Our best player by a country mile until he got injured. Shame... Butt - Seemed solid enough - let down by those around him really. N'Zogbia - Great talent who I fear will not be an NUFC player much longer. Never gave up throughout. Duff - Asleep most of the game - was being fed some great balls by N'Zogbia early on but Duff was 3 yards behind in his thinking every single time!! Should have been replaced by Martins much earlier Smith - Amazed there was no yellow card but then you have to do something to warrant it! He was nowhere to be seen for most of the match although to his credit, was responsible for clearing a number of Liverpool corners in the 2nd half. Be OK if he was supposed to be a defender! Owen - the speed may have gone but the hunger is still there. Streets ahead of anyone else in his thinking, shame he was left to fight the first half on his own. Geremi - Did OK when he came on - nothing spectacular though - just seemed to keep it together. Martins - If this bloke doesn't start the next game alongside Owen in a 4-4-2 then something is sadly wrong. His speed is immense and was someone the Liverpool players were respecting. The 40 yard volley was amazing - even the kop were applauding that one. Overall, this isn't going to be fixed overnight and KK is using the very same players Sam did..... but we're a whole lot better as a team than we were. We played well against Blackburn and IMO, we didn't disgrace ourselves yesterday. The biggest difference I did notice from the game back in November was how we reacted. Back then we collapsed and our heads dropped pretty much when the second goal went in.... Yesterday the players kept at it and did make a game of it. 2-0 would have been a fairer result and how would we have been all reacting if Martins' volley had gone in? -
It is.... but the police still won't stick their hands up and take responsibility for it. It may seem petty but that's what pisses them off more than anything (and as I've alluded to before, if it was NUFC and the police had that attitude, I'd probably feel the same). Taylor found them responsible but he recommendations were aimed at preventing it happening again rather than bringing those responsible to justice. I might be wrong but if they police had said that "yep, we fucked up", this probably would have been forgotten about years ago.
