The official Match thread: Newcastle United Vs ManUre
Craig replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
The 3-0 defeat against Liverpool back in November doesn't seem that bad any more. Espeically when you consider 2008 so far: 02/01/08 Man City (h) Lost 0-2 06/01/08 Stoke City (a) Drew 0-0 12/01/08 Man Utd (a) Lost 0-6 16/01/08 Stoke City (h) Won 4-1 19/01/08 Bolton (h) Drew 0-0 26/01/08 Arsenal (a) Lost 0-3 29/01/08 Arsenal (a) Lost 0-3 03/02/08 Middlesbrough (h) Drew 1-1 09/02/08 Aston Villa (a) Lost 1-4 23/02/08 Man Utd (h) Lost 1-5 10 games 1 win 2 draws 7 defeats 7 goals for 25 goals against Shocking... -
I'm there for the whole weekend! And I have to sit amongst the 'red lot' in the main stand.... (or it might even be in the kop) why? wont she let you go out to play with your mates? Depends if I want the 'free' ticket or buy another one go for the free ticket...proper Geordie.... Actually it'll be worth going just to hear her Dad moaning on about how shite Liverpool are... She was telling me he was even having a whinge on Tuesday night! I'm guessing they were wearing the wrong shade of red or the grass blades were brushed the wrong way. I dunno how he'd cope if he supported Newcastle.

Aye left foot. He always had this thing for putting the ball through the stanchion, was unbelievable the amount of times he used to do it, his goal against Crystal Palace was my fav Gazza goal ever though, 40 yards oot and aye you've guessed it, straight through the stanchion. Class goal that like. Oh aye, in full agreement. I was in the Milburn paddocks that day and saw the goal right from whereabouts the TV cameras were (Milburn stand was still being built). You could tell where it was heading as soon as it left his foot. Also scored a couple of crackers against Spurs that season too - effectively sealed his transfer to WHL as after that, Venables had a tongue like a roll of lino whenever Gazza was mentioned.

Going back to his turn of pace and ability to run past players, one of the best goals I saw him score was against Southampton at SJP in 1986/87. He'd been out injured for months IIRC and it was his first game back - took the ball on the edge of our penalty area at the leazes end, took it all the way down the left flank before cutting inside and smashing it past Shilton at the gallowgate end. Brilliant goal and on a par with Ryan Giggs' one against Arsenal in the '99 cup semi-final.

I still rate his final season with us (1987/88) as him at his peak.... That was before he let things run away from him. Everyone raves about Italia '90 but to me, that's when he made his entrance on the world stage. Even at that stage I think he was being badly advised. Some of the performances he put in that last season with us were the most magical I've ever seen. Just wonder what would have become of him had he not turned Manchester United down.

Microchips are fucking ace like. Culinary genius you are.... Martin - remember she's a scouser, she's not used to someone using a key to get into her house

Have bought the roses, the bottle of bubbly and some chocs. Have a half day in lieu tomorrow so I'm off to spend the weekend with her. Traffic permitting will get there early and do the normal thing of get her house key off her at work and let myself in. By the time she gets home, the meal should just about be ready.

I wonder if Billy's gonna make his lass another CD this year?

Nobody on this planet could come in to NUFC and turn things round overnight, Kev's last start with us was a battle but things came together given that little bit of time and patience. If you refuse to get behind Keegan managing our club then you shouldn't even have the cheek to call yourself a member of the Toon Army - just a worshiper of Southern shit-stirring hacks. Exactly the point i've been arguing with all the cockney lot at work this week. We nearly, so very nearly dropped into the third tier of english football with KK at the helm - what's more if we had, he would'nt have been our manager beyond that summer (he was only on 'til the end of the season' contract and there's no way the club would have been able to afford him had we gone down). All the press ever remember is 95/96 and as a result measure everything he's ever done since against it. It fucking stinks tbh. Anyone who was around in those days would know we were pretty woeful the season before that - certainly inferior to the first season we'd had back in the top flight. But no, they all expect him to come in and start off exactly as he did in August 1995. Not gonna happen - the board knew that, the players knew that and more importantly, the fans knew it too. In fact the only people who appear to have missed it is the press. Do they think we've got a fucking teleport back to those days or something? It'll take time to rebuild and even KK isn't that much of a magician.

Cheese on a pizza? No way! Buffalo Mozarella you spaz!

At left back he's a fucking disaster. Still have that move in the first half in my mind where he broke down the left channel and tried to cross the ball only for it to end up deep in the Holte End. If the bloke can't cross the ball, he should never, ever play on that flank. The fact that we had a dedicated left-back on the bench makes it 10 times worse!

Asda - Steak and cheese. Fucking gorgeous

Took me a while but i've found him..........

Right man has been given it IMO... The only viable alternative seemed to be Ferdinand and that would have been an unmitigated disaster.

Was it me or was she actually chanting "get your tits out for the lads!" ??? They were actually singing 'Get your tits out for your Dad' (refering to the obvious). As well as 'Down on your daughter, you're going down on your daughter' And 'Gary Glitter's red and white army' which I thought deserved some credit Craig's about as clued up on toon chants as Tony Blair. Fair comment but TBF, I didn't have the speakers on too loud in the office
