  1. I'm employing the 'expect fuck all and you won't be disappointed' approach to this one. 2-0 to them.
  2. I assume because they're utterly terrified at Reform getting in and fear this will only strengthen that risk. I find it incredulous that there are people who still see Brexit as a positive thing. It's been an unmitigated disaster on all fronts.
  3. This however did make me chuckle...
  4. Seems I CAN remember my username! Headed straight for the thread on 'The Rat' who they are strangely still very supportive of.
  5. Actually my old man was a building society manager and this was indeed part of the application process - getting to know the individuals and making an informed decision on whether it was right to provide them a mortgage - it wasn't just about numbers on a spreadsheet. Conversely, he refused to grant mortgages to people he felt were at risk of falling into repossession territory - he didn't want to be the bloke who'd given them the means to make a family, and in particular, kids homeless. Of course, come the late 80s/early 90s it was all about as selling as many mortgages as they could irrespective of individual risk and because he was a man of principle who refuse to jump on the cunt train, they found a way to dispense of his services after 29 years
  6. I don't care if anything says or thinks it's looking towards halycon days and it's rose-tinted, it is demonstrably far harder to get on the housing ladder than it used to be. Listening to my folks who bought their first house in 1963 it was akin to buying a car - so long as you could provide evidence of regular income you were going to be accepted for a mortgage. Everyone's opinion of where the balance tilted unfairly between salaries / cost of living and the valuation of property but IMO it was 25-30 years ago and it's been getting progressively worse since. I'm in my late 40s, earning £70k with no savings and a small amount of debt to consolidate and I can't get on the market. I rent a 2 bed end of terrace for £1250pcm which is unbelievably good value round here and I've seen mortgage illustrations suggest my salary would permit a mortgage of around £450K with repayments below what I'm paying in rent if only I could string a deposit together.
  7. That's shite HMHM - you're surely within rights to know the details as to why you've had your licence revoked. Hope you manage to get it sorted.
  8. As I said last night, I want to know the mechanism as to how this is going to work. According to Savills there are currently around 145,000 UK homes valued at more than £2m and expected to rise to about 190,000 by 2028. How is the valuation of these properties going to be determined and more importantly, at what cost. It's a thin end of the wedge anyway, likely to generate around £400m per annum for the public purse - a figure that'll no doubt reduce once you factor in the implementation costs. It's a great idea in principal, but they needed to jump in with both feet - not just stick their toe in the water.
  9. Hot favourite for the job if Slot goes? Jurgen Klopp!
  10. Wasn't there the view that Shearer might have come in for punishment for Neil Lennon headbutting his foot had England not got an upcoming tournament?
  11. It's happening isn't it? Get money on Gerrard whilst is still out at 10/1. Slot is now 5/2 to be the next manager to leave his job BTW.
  12. He did court Isak however and claimed he was going thrive at Anfield so I'm making sure I'm making the most of this downfall
  13. To be fair to him, he's not anywhere near VVD's biggest fan and went apeshit when they gave him a new contract
  14. The fact that one bin-dipper 'acquaintance' felt the need to point out to me Isak had a shot on target demonstrates just how shit he's been. If they'd paid £10m for him they'd have been ripped off, let alone £125m
  15. So caveat it so that it’s only liable on the liquidation of asset - i.e. selling the land rather than a blanket tax that hits those intending to maintain the going concern.
  16. This is the guy Liverpool fans call the greatest defender in Premier League history…
  17. Is that locked down now? Used to have an account but haven’t been on it for years - probably been deleted, and fuck knows what I signed up as.
  18. Farming is slightly different for me in that it’s asset-rich, not cash-rich wealth.
  19. This has been said for generations but it’s still there and will continue to do so whilst outright majorities are commonplace. Doesn’t matter who gets voted in none of them are going to be turkeys voting for Christmas.
  20. Watched MOTD and expected Warnock to defend VVD for the penalty in some way, but even he said “not sure what he was thinking, perhaps jumped too early but should have just admitted he got it wrong”
  21. All the criticism directed at Konate is just deflection from the player who has become truly dog shit. But they dare never criticise VVD .. it’s like turning on family to them
  22. Nothing to do with Curtis Jones either who was tracking the goalscorer to the halfway line before inexplicably stopping and watching him bag the goal from distance.
  23. Craig

    Eddie Howe

Fair point, but I think we were complacent after the equaliser. The manner of how the first goal happened didn’t help, but we were asleep for the second - in my opinion.
  24. BTW if they do decided to dispense with Slot’s services, I’m lumping money on Gerrard & McAllister for the remainder of the season. They’re ready to take on another role and you can just see the bin dippers getting all sentimental at the romanticism of the prodigal son returning.
