  1. I think Mason got it bang-on when he said the only reason the daughter wanted to go was because it was Portugal and a 'free holiday'... Didn't like that, did she?
  2. To be fair to him, he's 13 years old and no recollection of what his Dad achieved in the game. He's every right to form his own opinions of him and base them on the interactions that Paul has had with him, his siblings and his mother. Don't lose sight of the fact that, despite the fact the two elder children were not Gazza's, he took them under his wing and brought them up instead of their biological father - there'll be a real sense with those two of the need to repay him in some way - also they're older (21 and 18) and able to understand what is going on more. All Regan sees is his Dad being an alcoholic abusive man who has beaten his mother and rarely seen his only biological son when he has been sober. He obviously feels totally let down by him. It's no wonder he feels the way he does when he recites memories of Gazza eating a bag of sweets, throwing up in the bag and then continuing to eat them. Paul Gascoigne is one of the most (if not THE most) talented footballer I ever had the pleasure to watch in the flesh. The fact that his life has turned out the way it has is extremely sad. However, if this wasn't Gazza and simply a 'Joe Bloggs' with a drinking and mental health issue, people would probably pat the kid on the back for being strong-willed and forming his own opinion. I do place the blame at his mother's door somewhat for agreeing to this carry on - there's no way that TV cameras should have been brought into what is patently a mental sick man fighting his demons. He's still alive, still sick and more than likely has seen this programme - I just hope it doesn't have an adverse affect on him.
  3. Don't see the need tbh. Surely we could do what we did against Sheffield Wednesday back in 1993 and wear our away kit?

Seems they're 'experimenting' with some new flavours.... Might buy a box when they come back in stock - pretend to the lads at work that I'm being generous and buying some sweets in
  6. Rob W will be back to discount all this man.... they were dead within 4 seconds, obviously....
  7. Pretending he's ITK in regards to club matters when he most clearly isn't IMO. The theory behind some of his substitutions leave a lot to be desired too.
  8. I, like a fool, was sucked into his tripe first time around and I'll be fucked if i'll buy into it a second time. All I'd ask is that he shows where it counts. Well he's got the next 28 days to prove so..... Anyone willing to 'give him time' after that needs their fucking heads examined.
  9. Agree with this and tbf we know fuck all at the moment about what went on(*). Being charged suggests that the CPS feel they've got something they can use against him but even then it's not clear cut at this stage that he's guilty of something. What riles me is the inconsistancy of the FA. Some of you are naturally making comparisions to the incident with Joey Barton last year. More comparable is the incident with Jonathan Woodgate and Lee Bowyer about 6-7 years ago. They were both charged with assault, actioning actual bodily harm and affray - exactly the same as Gerrard has been charged with now. Back then though, the FA decreed that being charged with such offence was reason enough to exclude both players from selection from the England squad. Yet this time, they don't feel the need to exclude Gerrard from selection. Can only lead to one of 4 assumptions: 1) They've had some exclusive insight into both incidents and are able to differentiate between the two. 2) They feel they've 'learned from their mistakes' in excluding Bowyer and Woodgate until they were tried. 3) They feel that as Gerrard's incident had no racial connertations, it doesn't deem action as strong. 4) They feel that Steven Gerrard would be a bigger performance loss to England than the other two were. We all know they'll argue that it's point number 2 when in reality it's almost certainly point number 4. They're still spineless fuckers, despite all that's gone before... (* - FWIW I've used this same argument with the scousers who are absolutely insistent that Gerrard is innocent...)

    SBR Day

It was said all along that the buckets were going to be at the gallowgate end... I stuck a couple of quid in at about 11.45 but when he rattled the bucket it sounded shamefully empty. Bit of a damp squib really, not helped in any quarter by the announcement made a couple of hours earlier..
  11. BTW I'm staying in the apartments next to Tilley's Bar... Not many people walking up the hill to moan thankfully... Last thing we need to see now is the chav mongs. Today is about SBR and it should remain that way. Leave any demos for the next home game.
  12. Far removed from whether we are happy or not, I am most definitely not, his timing is appalling. The club knew fine well that we'd arranged SBR day today and that the fans voices we're going to be directed in tribute to a great man - even the Liverpool fans are with us on that one. In essence he's asked us to choose between going with what we've planned and what we now feel. The man's an absolute cunt - more so now. If he does ever want to be accepted then surely Wise should go?

    Jesus Christ!

Ask Rob W... enjoyed the last supper with him by all accounts.
  14. Happy xmas all - fingers crossed we all have a better 2009
  15. But would things have went that way if he was here? Fucking hell man are you suggesting it all turned to shit in the couple of weeks between Mort leaving and KK quitting? A couple of weeks? Didn't Mort leave in either May or June. Was July wasn't it?

    Bastards

That's happened to us. And we seriously can't cope with the workload that has now been placed on ourselves. Familar tune that Mr B. We could barely cope before hand. On top of that, we've won the M25 widening contract so the workforce is going up by 350 by mid January.

tbh, anyone who was relying on a pay rise must have their head up in the clouds given the current economic climate. I was expecting fuck all but ended up with 4% However, our team lost 2 members not that long back and they're not replacing them...
  19. And he was willing to talk and listen to the fans, whereas I get the feeling Llambias has nowt but contempt for us. While I agree with you on the fact that his communication skills were better, I can help but think he's being assigned some 'messiah' status on the grounds that he was only involved with the club before we all realised what was going on. If he'd still been chairman when Keegan quit, we'd be calling him a cunt too. Of that I have no doubt.
  20. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/de...le-michael-owen Freudian slip by Freddy there?
  21. From 82 to 92 your average never went above 30'000 then all of a sudden with the Keegan era from 92 onwards it rocketed. What a fucking idiot Tell me a club who's gates rocketed in that era. It was a time of high unemployment, hooliganism was at an all time high, in the space of 15 years we had sold FOUR world class footballers, Super Mac, Waddle, Beardsley and Gazza, we flirted with relegation nearly every season, yet STILL STILL we were one of the best supported clubs in England. Take 1984 we were in Division Two yet STILL were the third best supported club in England. In fact in a period from 1977 to 1993 we were in the top 10 of English football ONCE. Our relegation season of 88/89 we averaged 27,000 till the last three games when we were already relegated, which made us fourth best supported club in the country. 85-88 typically 22-28,000 average as I said despite no hope or anything, and a club with absolutely no ambition at all. As I said in terms of support and what we've been through we are pierless. We will never and have never averaged 15,000 like Aston Villa (in the top flight in the 80s as well). We are in an era of Talksport/SKY fans like you who don't know any facts about my club. I'll tell you now in terms of support I look down my nose at everyone bar Man Utd and always will. Sunderland are a better and more loyally supported club than Aston Villa. You could have been more succinct Stevie and simply pointed out that the Keegan era coincided with the building of the North Stand. Before that we couldn't be issued with a safety certificate for a capacity of more than 30,000 so we were filling the place despite being shite. Not to mention the fact that for one whole season (1987-88) we had a further capacity reduction thanks to the demolition of the old West Stand, the construction the Gleneagles-style grandstand in the centre Leazes meaning that was out of action and the deployment of portakabins in the North East corner which prevented anyone from standing there either. But don't let facts get in the way of an argument - seriously man, next time you come on here spouting the odds, do some fucking reasearch first. Yes, you're more successful that us at present... but it's on the pitch, not off it.
  22. I think they've fucked up tbh... Looked at the video clip and it looks nowt like him
  23. good idea that like, only 35% full now. I've archived my curry recipe for anybody else who wants it PM me that one over my good man...
