For Dyer maybe. Doing the speed limit it would take double that. Might be right. It's still about 60-70 miles although its not unusual for people to London from Ipswich. Isn't West Ham's training ground out in the wilds of Essex somewhere though? It is at Saville Road, Chadwell Heath. How easy to get to from Ipswich I have no idea. 61 miles according to Google Maps - about 1hr 20mins...

Whilst if I was in Sheffield United's position I would be seriously pissed off with the whole Carlos Tevez affair, I can't for the life of me see how they can sue West Ham for this. Its not their fault that they weren't docked points or that the appeals were thrown out. Sheffield United's 'beef' is with the FA surely? Seriously, McCabe needs to bite the bullet on this one and move on! The whole saga needs to be forgotten about. I find it very interesting that Mascherano never gets mentioned either......

Yup, which is why I put forward Mr Finn - the bloke is song-writing genius

In all seriousness, I think that's possibly one of the reasons he's decided not to accept McLaren's offer. Can you imagine that smug ginger fuckwit if Carragher had renaged? It would be more unbearable that he already is (difficult, I know....)
-
Precisely.... He effectively bankrupted Leeds United and therefore he should have been blacklisted and never allowed to run a company (never mind being specific and say a football club) again!

Just a little over an hour....

I fucking hope so, really rate Barnes, he has shone in every one of the few Derby games I saw him play in last year. Exercising caution, I remember about 8/9 years ago us being linked with an equally high-rated young player who was on Ipswich's books and everyone being excited at the prospect of him joining.... The only difference is if we sign Barnes we sell him on once fees of £25 million are being quoted True I know we all say "if only we'd flogged Dyer to Leeds for £20m" but can you honestly, hand on heart say that the money would have been wisely re-invested? I think it's fair to say that SBR wasn't the one handling the transfer deals No, but who's to say it wouldn't be wisely reinvested? We may have got a player who didn't spend half his career getting his legs rubbed off Derek Wright Howay man, leave Alex's leg fetishes out of this....

Something which quite a few on here suggested some time ago would and should happen and why he shouldn't have been considered for the captaincy. I don't think he's anywhere near a finished article - sure he has potential, but then so does Huntingdon and Edgar. Be interesting to see how he deals with it, if he's anything about him, he'll deal with the competition positively and up his game. If he flounces and asks for a transfer then he's an idiot!

He can then just buy out the remainder of his contract surely? He owes Newcastle nothing, but equally we owe him nothing if that is the case. Fair is fair. He's asked for a transfer meaning that he's foregoing any loyalty bonus and that, given weve just renewed his contract, we can command a transfer fee for him. In all seriousness, what is it in your opinion that we're giving him but don't owe him? A free transfer I would assume, which is what he wants. Has that actually been confirmed by either the club or the player or is it speculation? It reminds me very much of the situation we were in which lead to Gavin Peacock leaving for Chelsea in 1993.

So does he forget all about training and match days does he? As for he's only got himself to blame for his actions, none of us are perfect and I don't see him trying to put the blame on anyone else. He's coming to the end of his career, he's served this club well for the best part of 9 years, he owes us nothing and deserves his choice to move on. I don't blame him for one minute for wanting to live and, more importantly, work close to his kids. As has been said before, this is not a case of London v Newcastle. If Nobby's ex had taken his kids to live on Dartmoor, we'd probably see him wanting a move to Plymouth. It's his kids which are his deciding factor, nothing else. There is more to life than football.

Was that not Le Saux ??? During France '98, you mean?? I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong, as the sands of time drift around my heed quite unchecked Think he's referring to Euro 2000 when we lost 3-2 and Neville gave away a stupid last minute penalty. No-one has let him forget it and it's nuts. People forgave Beckham for what he did in France '98, people forgave Seaman for what happened against Brazil in 2002 and no doubt the same is true of Rooney for last summer. So why does Neville still get tarred?
-
Defence still looks weak/inexperienced. I agree we need at least another RB & CH before the window shuts and I'm not convinced with Babayaro as cover for LB. Ideally I'd want another midfielder with Zog and Nobby being uncertainties (Solano hasn't got many years left in him regardless) and if the rumour about Phil Neville is true, that would cover both the midfield and LB base

I remember him being interviewed on SSN after it was announced Owen was signing for us. He was practically crying into the camera -
He's the main reason Everton have been doing well in recent seasons. Absolutely solid and as DK says, gets criticised for his performances for England. I'd have him here like a shot

"Bobby Robson here, ...............what am I doing again?"

Not sure but, like you say £2m was massive. I just remember the Beardsley one because it was him leaving us really. Shearer was a record when he went to Blackburn though I think. A British record that is and that was 'only' £3.6m. I think Keane broke it the following year. I'm not sure though. It seems like absolutely ages ago when Keane joined Man Utd. btw. Gazza didn't hold the record for very long IIRC. Didn't Cottee go to Everton a few weeks later for £2.2m? And then Pallister's move to Man Utd was a bit more a season later. Talking about British records being 'only' .... Sutton went to Blackburn for a record £5m in 1994 and Cole broke that record 6 months later when he left us for the Scum for £7m. Chicken feed compared to the fee someone paid for Shearer 18 months later though!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/6944015.stm Wonder what went on there. Wouldn't be surprised if Sam was trying to recruit him now. Completely irrational and unwarranted, but I am incapable of sympathy for Neil McDonald. Stems from when he jumped ship to Everton for £2 million in 88, they beat us 4-0 on the opening day of the season and we got relegated. At least thats if memory serves. Don't know what it was specifically but there was just something really aggravating about the Neil McDonald transfer. Gazza transfer etc was inevitable, but McDonald was mediocre at best and yet even he thought he was too good for us. Couldnt seem to leave fast enough and you just sort of knew we were on the road to relegation. I remember his 'come and rescue me' plea to the Toon when the Keegan revolution was taking off. Smug-con 5 tbh. IIRC, he left because we kept insisting on playing him in midfield rather than his favoured right back position. Dunno about the £2m fee though, that's what we sold Gazza for and it was no-where near that high. I thought it was about £600k we sold him for.

WTF? One game in, and having drawn away from home and he's gone? Something other than the football is taking over there IMO. Is that tit Knighton still in charge?

And Kevin Davies to be fair when you consider he signed him for Bolton -
I don't see it at all Having said that I showed it to someone else and asked if it looked like me and they seriously thought my face was super-imposed onto De Niro's body!

Neil Finn - best song-writer of the 20th century. Stick that up your fucking arse McCartney!
