I think it is a lack of confidence, crapness of some players and having been messed around too much this season. Last season Keegan came in and it needed a positive result for players gaining confidence and getting more secure about the jobs they were asked to do. This season everything is coming far too late. The players are already at their lowest in terms of confidence. They look frightened at times and insecure. A positive result or maybe even just a goal probably would do wonders to the likes of Owen, Martins. Also I think a big influence has been being subjected to the coaching/managing of Joe Kinnear. He probably did well at the beginning when his team talks could have an inspiring effect, but it became quite clear that the daily work at the training ground had catastrophal effects. The players lack the physical requirements for a relegation fight, not to mention the footballing ability. There is no understanding of each other and that looks like something Keegan worked on from the beginning, because the passing game suddenly improved vastly last year after the murdering tactics from Allardyce. Unfortunately, I think it's all too late now and that Shearer/Dowie have (yet) nowhere near the ability of Keegan to install self-belief in the players in a short time and work with them on the training ground.

I fell asleep in the pub in the second half. Good spirited performance by Wales. Unlucky with the first goal coming after a throw-in wrongly awarded to Germany, a clear penalty refused (handball and foul) and an own goal. A couple of decent chances from Wales as well. Germany more and more look to play the traditional 'we play shite and only care about the result' stuff.

Obviously he is not as engaging as KK but how can you be so sure he is very aloof? I think he (sensibly) maintains a certain persona on tv but reckon he's actually a bit of a joker and a man's man. I don't think he'll quite get the players expressing themself to KK's level but he will probably inject more backbone, which is what we need for now. Had a mate went to do work at his home. Naturally he was extremely excited when Al (his hero) answered the door. High Alan, im from such and such and Ive come to..... Its Mr Shearer, not Alan came the reply. He was gutted. Could have been worse, Kieron Dyer used to set fire to people (or something similar...).

Same as all those youngsters were more than likely spotted by scouts and recommended to the club with Wise having the job to convince them to sign (which he failed with a couple of promising youngsters, like Vokes). I think Volkes is a different case, he's played 30 times for Wolves this season, he'd have been lucky to make the bench at the toon. He'd been unlucky not to make the bench this season tbh... As much as I agree with the policy of acquiriny young talents from all over the world. How successfull this approach is going to be we will only see in a couple of years time as normally only few players actually turn good...
