The thing is that if he had been our first target and we had made a bid for him a couple of weeks ago we probably wouldn't have got him. There were other clubs interested and I think he only turned his sight on playing for Newcastle because the transfer window is closing and the likes of Real Madrid chose other targets. Anyway knowing the Deportivo chairman I don't think we have heard the last word in this case.

Just two games into the season and I already have written off the season. Of course somebody new coming in won't be able to work wonders, though I think with installing some kind of tactics there still could be get something out of the team. Ideally I would like to see a high profile figure giving the job right now that in contrast comes in with a bonus. But I would also willing to see a interim solution until the end of the season.

As much as I dislike Graeme Souness I don't think he is putting off players, at least not European players. Most of them simplay won't know about his reputation. And I also don't think that Fat Fred does have much of an impact on players unless he doesn't behave like a total idiot during negotiations (well thinking about it again...).

Seeing he was an unused sub last night in the reserve game. What game are they playing with him? Either they treat him as a first team player and at least give him some match practise or they accept offers for him. From what I heard here, Stuttgart (where I live close to) made an offer, but Newcastle wanted at least 10m Euro. What club do they think will offer that much money for a player a club wants desperately to get rid off. Now Gladbach in Germany said they would be interested, but only in a load deal...

Just for the record. I didn't say that I'm hoping for a defeat, it's just that I'm not really hoping for a win either. At least not as much as I used to hope. It just feals very indifferent at the moment.

I am just reading a book about the downfall of a Jorman football club (Kaiserslautern) that was run by a bunch of local halfwits for several years who caused severe lasting damage and made the club a laughing stock (they are currently facing a court trial). Actually some things reminded me of the Newcastle situtation. Especially with some rumours I heard about the financial handling of the club. Looking at the two games ahead I the funny feeling is growing deep inside me that another two crap results wouldn't be that bad. This feels horrible because so far I haven't had any faith in the manager and the board, but was always hoping for good results and been proven wrong. One part still hopes to be proven wrong, but the devil in me is growing.

I said already before the season that Souness needs a result out of the first four games if he wants that the ManUre game isn't his last. Normally he should have got the win that eased the pressure out of the game against West Ham at home. A disappointing match against Bolton and a non-performance against ManUre and Souness will find his end at the gallowgate...

He is saying that a move to Newcastle would suit him, but that he has no problem with staying at Deportivo if no deal between the clubs can be agreed.
