Yeah I do, but its woefully thin on talent. I think we have a decent enough first team to survive but its been seen as soon as injuries start to creep in we have little in the way of quality to replace. I think we could scrape survival but the squad really needs to be strengthened. More quality in depth.

I really dont get this delusional negativity like. Alor of our squad have PL experience tbh....they may not be top 10 players but certainly good enough to stay up next season. Its all about how they are managed, this season in the CCC Hughton has used them well but in the PL i personally think we will need a new manager in order to really push on. CH mite keep us up next year but if we want to progress further then a new guy is needed, and that being the case, why wait until the season after next? delusional negativity? this squad is the one that got relegated last season minus some first team players what makes you think they've all suddenly improved to the point of being certain to stay up? Tbf I thnk the squad was good enough to stay up last season. IMO the reason we failed was because of the managerial farce we had. Of course the players have to take some blame, but my point is that they were not the 3rd worst squad. Far from it. On another hand, I think the current squad or as it will be end of season would struggle. Maybe bottom 6. Id get rid of (Butt, Hall, Pancrate all taken as read) - Smith, Shola & Best. Smith might stay, and we'd need to see how he fit in to the squad, but shola I think would again struggle and I think he's certainly lost his place to Carroll who Id be interested to see if his steady progress continued.

Back on topic, eh ladies. For me, SJH saw a stirling opportunity. With him he had Fletcher who, apart from apparently being a little shit, brought some brilliance with it. SJH it a capitalist by his own mouth. He knew the potential the club had and the explosion of wealth it could produce with success. Everyone would be a winner. The fans get the club they want and they make a good return on their investment. Who could complain? Well, the bubble burst. Not just for our club but football in general. It got bigger than he could handle and so he stepped away, pockets bulging. For me it depends how you look at it. Do you thank SJH for giving us the best years we've had and will have in a long time or do you condemn him for building us up, floating us, pocketing the cash and walking away? Shepherd was always their puppet in my eyes. Bit like the sacking of bobby. Isnt it that Shepherd was told to do but it wasnt his choice?

Tbf like, it is possible for one player to make another look bad. I'm not saying either way in the examples given here, but depending on the roles given, a perfectly good player can look shite by trying to make up for the mistakes made by another player. Two centre halfs are a good example. The bad one leaves his player and the good ones has to try and cover two zones or two players etc, he fails and looks bad and gets the stick while really it was the other player. Bramble, as Alex says, was all about confidence. When he was doing well, he could be pretty solid. From memory (of which mine is shite) Bramble had particularly good games with Woodgate. Woodgate for me is one of the best CH Ive seen at the club. I didnt rate Boumsong and he made alot of individual errors on the ball, however I think he was also hung out to try alot by Bramble. Basically I think Boumsong had a torrid time here but was made to look worse than he was.

I just think that CH clearly has some good qualities but also I think he'd be out of his depth back in the Prem. While I know experience will (you'd imagine) improve him, like you say I think a good DOF at this moment could be a huge step forward for the club. Given Llambias knows fuck all (about anything imo).
