All arguably like but then you knew that. As for KK, I just couldnt see him ever coming back to football. No need to really.

Happy Birthday fella
-
I very occassionally browse over to NO, but largely just stay around here. Only other footy board Ive used daily was Soccer 24-7 but that was before TT was around. Used TT since its first incarnation that Phil made.

While many even on here might slate him, personally I find it quite refreshing. We're fucking low at the moment, but I just hope he considers these words when making the main appointment.
-
Well he supposedly didnt turn us down, it wasnt offered to him. Talks just broke down over him wanting to commute rather than move up.

Still agree with the table. If a manager sells a player for £5M and buys one for £10M, he's still only spent £5M not £10. If you did look at our total spend though (gross) then we'd prob be further down the table given our record of loosing money on high value players.

For sure, as said in the other thread. Thoughts to his family. RIP.
-
Agree wholeheartedly - two players of quality would make a hell of adifference I'd even narrow it down to just one central creative player. pretty much what we've all said a while. A decent manager to give the place a lift will make the biggest difference.

Speaking of a big club
-
To some degree yes. I agree is class. A twat, but a class one. If he was in our team, would make little difference at the moment. But yes, playing with better tactics along side better players will bring better things from our better players. Pretty obvious actually

if Shay given weren't one of the worst kickers of a football , he might be one of the best keepers in the world. (but if we get a new manager , we get a new goalkeeping couch , yeah ?) maybe we should put Harper in goal (I think he's a good keeper ... he also used to look like Shay so maybe nobody would notice. then we bring Shay outfield for a spot of kicking the ball , maybe instead of Alan Smith, would anyone spot the difference there?) thats one way to stop the goals going in like, we should try that, maybe one of them corner ones, about a 5 seater

Ah these are cheering me up cheers lasses,

So, is this it then? Is THIS the lowest point we can get? Or is that when we announce McLaren as manager? No wink smiley to see here.

Also known as "not so"

I bet Bill Gates is always pissing about on the internet. Wonder if he uses Firefox?

See my post above about Barton. As for the timing, would you have rather it was when the window closed (like Fred done) ?
-
Id agree. Also on Barton, while I dont like him, what actual reason have we for getting rid, and more so why would we? thats the exact reaction that will quickly loose you £5M. No, you bring him back, get him playing (or not) and sell him. Then as for his comment about speculation being tedious, well fucking hell of course it is! What do you want him to say, "Yes, we are looking at getting rid of Sam, but dont tell him".

There is a massive problem with the term "big club" in general. Many many teams can use their own formula that suits them. I honestly dont think there is an answer that is clear. If you say are Newcastle United a successful club, then at the moment of course that would be no. you just done it your self there, are newcastle a big club, but dont take into account support? Well, are chelsea a big club but dont take into account trophies? I think there is big clubs like Newcastle, and then there are big clubs like Liverpool & Man Utd who like it or not are huge. They have the success and the support. Chelsea wouldnt be that big until recent years due to the millions poured in. Newcastle has a massive history winning the league and FA Cup (and fairs), then people say, oh, you cant count things from that long ago. In which case, of course we aint as big as we used to be. Newcastle is classed by most (apart from views of rivals or those who are bitter who's views you cant really count) to be a big club because of the support AND the support it keeps through rough times. While some fans stay away from their club in tough times, we stay and perhaps be more vocal about it? Which is better? Well neither really. Basically, there is no defining line to which clubs on one side are big. There is only a scale. More recently our support and european flirtation keeps us towards the top of that scale. Id still say Newcastle were one of the top 8 clubs (think Turnover, support, overall premiership place to which since the start I think we are 5th or so and so on).
