Well 2.7 games played to 1 goal scored scoring ratio last season is ok, but not exactly world class either. Shearer in comparison was 2:1 in his 2nd from last season and 3:1 in his last. Owen had the highest ratio of goals scored to mins played in La Liga in his only proper season there. So at the moment all that can really be said is that BOTH Owen and Martins need to score a LOT more if we are to get anywhere. Im guessing that ratio includes all the games martins played for 10 mins as sub. And owens ratio will be better as he has only played 20 games. You can twist the stats anyway you want. I dont think Martins has anything to prove. Hes shown what he can do. Its not his fault hes not getting a chance to keep showing it.

I would say he proved himself last season finishing as the clubs top scorer. I think its Owen that needs to prove himself. He must be getting sick by now, playing champions league football with Inter, banging the goals in when he gets here and then dropped week in week out for the 2 cripples that are viduka and owen. I wouldnt blame him if he told us to fuck right off.
