  1. Newcastle United (4-4-2): S Harper — D Edgar, S Bassong, S Taylor, J Enrique — Gérémi (sub: K Lualua, 90), F Coloccini, J Barton (sub: P Lovenkrands, 64), D Duff — A Carroll, M Owen (sub: J Gutiérrez, 19). Substitutes not used: F Forster, Xisco, R Donaldson, B Inman. Booked: Taylor, Gutiérrez. You're telling me there are three teams in this league worse than that? Can't wait to see the lineup for the Mackems on Sunday!
  2. From TFA- So when he says OUR national heritage, he's imagining a stateside match where the Scots rampaged at Wembley then? He's no yank.
  3. I know we're riddled with injuries and all, but giving this guy a spot in the XI after what he's said about wanting to play for other teams is just sad. Kinnear, Hughton, somebody, has to shut this kind of thing down. It's shit for morale and shouldn't be tolerated at any club. Since they haven't though, make a deal. Get him out. Preferably to a club even more shit than us.
  4. I don't have a ton of first-hand experience when it comes to the state taking kids away, but there must be more to New Jersey taking this broad's kids away than just their names. Those two retards would own the state of New Jersey at the end of all of this if there wasn't.
  5. It's a bit Hitlerist if you're last name actually is "Hitler". Precisely.
  6. Take from Here If we go down were fucked basically Given Owen Martins Duke Smith Zog Harper Collocini Bassong Enrique Barton Jonas Duff Xisco Beye I should think all of them would go. Either due to being too good for the Championship or because of their wages. Its scarey scarey shit. Just think of teams that have dropped from the Prem. Leeds, Leicester, Weds, Watford, Charlton, Southampton etc etc. Now lets take the Black and White tinted specs off. We have a nice stadium, a great great fanbase, but how many can honestly we get in the Championship 35-40k? Now that would be great. Some of them teams above didnt get that in the Prem I hear you say, yes they didnt but how many have bounced back up? We all thought Leeds would etc? Im worried, very worried. Let me ask some questions that have been keeping me up the last couple of nights- If our attendance numbers did stay relatively high after relegation (like Leeds) AND we got rid of all the big names on our squad, would the club make more, less, or the same amount of money than it does currently? I realize we'd be losing out on all that EPL TV money and everything, but I've had this thought lately that if Ashley is only concerned about profitability for NUFC, what would really happen financially if we were relegated? Obviously, the knee jerk reaction would be that we'd lose millions, but think about this for just a second... Look at Leeds' attendance figures- not only are they higher than anyone in League 1, not only are they higher than nearly all of the Champ sides, they average more than almost 1/3 of the Premiership. If you're Mike Ashley and you realize you have an average of what, 45,000 loyal fans who show up every week to watch whatever the hell you've thrown on the pitch up to this point, it has to cross your mind. "Would they all still turn up if we were a Championship side?" It's almost like when a corporation closes a plant down- sure, you lose the money that plant earned from producing a product, but you also don't spend the money on wages, rent, taxes, transportation, etc., etc. Sometimes operating costs can come close to parity with how much money a plant produces. Do the wages for all those guys in wykikitoon's list there come anywhere close to equaling the money NUFC earns just for being part of the Premiership? I'm honestly asking here. I don't know enough about all the revenue streams for the EPL- in the U.S., most pro sports teams take in more dough at the gate than any other means unless it's like the Yankees or some massive team with their own TV network and whatnot. ... because if it does somewhat equal out, all of Ashley's moves, at least this season, suddenly make a whole lot more sense.
  7. Nah, last month they were trying to get Hitler's name on the cake at the store (who refused). This month they took the kids away from their "mother."
  8. What's going to be fucking awesome is when we dick around for another four or five days and then sell Given to Shitty for 10 million, but don't have enough time to get any other deals in place before the window closes. "Wait until summer though, lads!" Will be the cry...
  9. See man, and that's just it. (This sort of goes along with the other thread about the parent not liking her kid's assigned story so she complained it went against her atheist views). There's been this corner turned within the last 20 years or so where all of a sudden we have to listen to everyone's dopey opinion on things- no matter how irrelevant, misinformed, or flat out ridiculous. So, Jordan, as Kid Dynamite has so aptly pointed out, who is a pop-star, has opinions on crime and punishment? Shut the fuck up. So you're a parent who doesn't have their own beliefs worked out but feels totally comfortable complaining to the school system who at least ostensibly, selects material for student consumption professionally? Shut the fuck up. The truth is some people do know more about the topic at hand than you do and if you're an ignorant fool you should shut your mouth and start listening then maybe next time around you can join in. Christ almighty... Jordan thinks we should rape rapists. Brilliant! She should tour the States more- she sounds like every fucking retard around here that fails to even consider a retribution vs. deterrent type of argument when it comes to crime and punishment. Let's just get Old Testament on the whole thing and burn everyone! BLOOD!
  10. Christ, I thought this kind of stuff only happened over here.
  11. Go-Karts? Seriously? I'd be weeping if I wasn't laughing manically. I mean, for reals, this is like something you'd do for a youth team that's not getting along, y'know? Or is it different over there? Go-Karts aren't really an adult type of thing here. Maybe it's just me, I just keep picturing Barton cursing his Go-Kart out for having a creepy throttle and then subsequently kicking it's ass.
  12. N'Zogbia is not our first choice left full back. He's a shite left fullback when it comes to defending, and apparently he was the one beaten for the Hull goal. They've shown that all it takes to lose a match is one defensive slip-up, which is more than likely to come when you play a winger as a fullback. The longer that the game went at 0-0 the more confident Hull grew, and rightfully so. Kinnear should have put a team of youngsters out there TBH. True 'dat. Assuming what's been reported is true, I wouldn't have even played N'Zog in this match. Were we not raped by injuries, I wouldn't play him in Permiership fixtures either. Don't have anything against him per se, but if he wants to play for Arsenal (or any other club for that matter) so damn bad, then go ahead and have a seat since you obviously don't want to play for us.
  13. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7824731.stm Not the tens of thousands of (mostly gun related) homicides by Americans on Americans every year. Not the millions of people below the poverty line without access to medicine. Not the thousands of deaths and many more homeless from natural diasters like Katrina for which defences are still ill prepared for and which are encouraged by environmental policy. Not the trillions of tax payer dollars being handed over to private businesses in the hope of triggering a stimulus, rather than being used by the government ensuring work by providing municipal jobs. But the threat that apparently STILL lingers as a consequence of 3000 people being killed almost a decade ago despite throwing 2 to 3 trillion $ at the problem since. Fuck off Bush. What's absolutley terrifying is the fact that I'm sure Mr. Bush actually believes this to be true. He has no ulterior motives, he actually believes this. Almost 7.5 years later and he still thinks we're under constant threat by the evil terrorists. The bailout, disaster areas, near total corruption of the politcal and legislative systems, and the inevitable collapse of our manufacturing industry all takes a backseat to a problem that could've been fixed with A LOCK ON THE FUCKING DOOR TO THE COCKPIT. I mean, seriously. This shit would be hilarious if it wasn't true. And people wonder why I get high.
  14. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the funniest show on American TV. Lost and Rescue Me starting back up soon...
  15. There-in lies the problem though, are they REALLY a bunch of arseholes, or is everyone just blinded by emotion. We're in the shit along with 75% of the Premiership (if you just look at the league table), we're (according to us), in a tailspin and doomed beyond redemption BUT we're above Spurs who've spent loads, The mackems, who are in their golden age - according to them, and Boro who have the bestest chairman in the world. Our wafer thin squad is performing better than those mentioned despite being top (again) of the physio-room table. Maybe just maybe, it's not all as bad as some would believe it is. Only difference from about the previous 5 or so years is we've swapped Shepherd (thank god) for someone else. We are undoubtedly not very good at all, but so it seems is no-one else (excluding top 4-5) we've just got to hope we remain less shit than three other teams, I'm also with the gents who mentioned above that our transfer dealings have not been that bad, certainly compared to some in our recent past. I'm an old twat as well and I was gutted when we sold Pop Robson As you mentioned, we're really no worse off than the other 75%, but I think what makes a difference at least in my mind, and possibly others, is I think about how much worse off we'd be without Given and/ or Owen. Given especially. I'll be honest, I've not follwed Newcastle long, and I've never seen Harper play, but Given is hands down our MVP this season and if somehow he'd be allowed to leave, we'd be going straight down in my opinion. So it isn't so much that we're more pessimistic than the other 75% or have unrealistic expectations, it's we know how integral 2 or 3 star players are to our side being average to good instead of BAD.
  16. Totally thought this thread was going to be NIN-related.
  17. tl; dr Hey! You guys finally got the PayPal thing up!
  18. No doubt. If we've got that kind of scratch, we ought to just pay Owen.
  19. You guys know Barroom Hero by Dropkick Murphys? Face down in the table Won't admit defeat Joey Barton's coming back On the pitch he's class, Off he'll kick your ass Thank God he wears the white and black. Or here's one I just thought up in the shower to no tune in particular... Did we play too rough, Arsene? Did we play too rough, Arsene? Will you cry to the cameras Cos we fucked you up? Did we play too rough, Arsene?
