  1. Man, you got a funny way of trash talking. Not only does NUFC have to go down, but you have to come up. Don't you have a stadium to sell or something?
  2. Get rid of all that fickle talent too...
  3. FFS man, I didn't think they had a camera that automatically composed witty captions.
  4. Seriously! Let Nolan PK? Hell, let STaylor take the fucking PK! High marks also to Shola for that lame attempt straight into the GK there late. Noelie, you live stateside, does the Arsenal GK remind you of that douche from the TGIFriday's commercials?
  5. Ok. Regardless of how close the first half was and how optimistic it made me, the outcome of this game isn't surprising. This was a game NUFC should lose and we did. That isn't what concerns me. What concerns me is this whole not-starting-Owen thing. I get that Clipboard wants to try and "save" his best scorer, but we're not in 7th place coasting in, we're in fucking 17th! Every point we get from here on out could be the difference between staying up and going down. So if you don't owe it to the faithful to field the best fucking side you can, if you don't feel you owe it to the season ticket holders, at LEAST have the fucking sense to realize that RELEGATION IS A VERY REAL POSSIBILITY AT THIS POINT! For fuck's sake! Do they know when the season ends? The other thing that concerns me obviously is that we lost our two best defenders of late today. Never thought I'd be saying that about STaylor, but there it is. He was class against Hull and he was class today. On the bright side, Harps played a helluva match today. Good lord. Score could've very easily been 5 or 6-1 without Harper (and STaylor). What was the story on Jonas not playing? Did he get injured in training and I missed it? RTaylor commits way too many silly fouls. On a final note- is it just me or does Colocinni seem to be getting worse as the season goes on? Is he playing hurt or something? He doesn't look the same as he did back in October or November.
  6. Well that's me telt 'You're that big-headed I bet you've got loads of mirrors and that', fucking hell Do you find your punters tend to ask for the radio on? Just the ones with nothing of interest to say Is it just me or does your avatar look like she's saying, "My compass"?
  7. Y'know, if he thinks this is a Spurs board, it would answer some questions... Just a theory.
  8. In a related story, sales of the Tricolore are up 200% in and around The Emirates...
  9. No. The point was why, with the players who pull on the jersey, are getting turned over by really crap teams such as Hull and West Brom. It was raised with one eye on the fact that Ashley, Hughton or Kinnear will have no effect on what happens next, only the eleven on the pitch. Ive said it before but I dont think we'd be in this position if a "leader / shouter" was in midfield giving out the arse kickings. This happens in most games everywhere be it the prem or Sunday league, yet doesnt happen at the toon. This is why I think JB will save our season. I see your point. But the players should take to the pitch fit, motivated and with a good idea of what they're supposed to be doing as individuals and as a team. That's down to the coaches and management. From what I've seen this hasn't been the case this season. They cross the touchline and usually look like they haven't got a clue, and it doesn't seem to bother most of them either. That's the problem, IMO. How does Fulham go from nearly relegated to a top 10 side? Roy Hodgson. Unless I'm forgetting the big names they signed over the summer, it's basically the same roster as last year, innit? That's our problem- our manager and front office. How do you fix it? That's where it gets tricky- After Keegan fucked off, we ended up with Kinnear because no one wanted the job. Why didn't anyone want the job? Fill in the blanks as you wish- high pressure situation, shite DoF, no money to bring in new players, whatever. Point is, we'll keep on doing this dance until Ashley figures out no EPL team can manage itself and having a great manager and DoF is just as important as having talent out on the pitch.
  10. There's really no reason to consider the U.S. at this point. Our economy is fucked and likely will remain so for quite awhile, and as the OP mentions, football/ soccer will likely never catch on here until MLS gets more exposure via big name players. Also, Mexico has abosolutely no business hosting anything until they stop the literal war transpiring on their soil in the north. England in 2018 is a great decision. Spain would be the only other one in the list I'd even consider. As for 2022, Japan, Qatar, or Australia are the smart bets for notoriety. Japan would be shite though due to traffic and congestion. I'd like to see Australia get it, but Qatar is where the money is these days. Can't picture Indo or SoKo getting it over them.
  11. From the title of this thread, I thought maybe Taylor had finally answered his true calling of becoming a EPL linesman.
  12. In my favourite top 10 films of all time and a family "must watch" every christmas. One of Richard Curtis's finest moments. Hey, I'll stick up for Love Actually too. Lols... it's one of the few movies my wife breaks out when it's her turn to pick that doesn't make me die inside. I mean, it's a rom-com, so guys aren't supposed to like it, but it does have some pretty hilarious moments in it. Would I rather watch Memento or something? Sure, but if I have to watch a rom-com, it'd be that one before anything else. You want to talk about an entire genre of film that is at least 99% shite? Rom-coms. American action movies are a close second. Rom Coms are great. The Apartment Groundhog Day Tootsie Eternal Sunshine His Girl Friday Annie Hall Manhattan My Sassy Girl True Romance Princess Bride etc. I'm amazed anyone would consider Love Actually before any of those. True Romance is a romantic comedy? True Romance as in Clarence and Alabama? True Romance as in, "It's better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it?" True Romance? That's not a fucking romantic comedy. I think you missed the memo. It's been re-classified, along with Natural Born Killers and Schindlers List... Lols. Exactly. Saw Zack and Miri Make A Porno over the weekend. Had's its moments, but not Kevin Smith's strongest work. Mewes is pretty funny in it though. EDIT: Oh, almost forgot! Caught the tail end of Goal! over the weekend! Funny story, went to a party with my wife and a bunch of her friends. Proceeded to get completely smashed. Passed out around 1am. Woke up around 3:30. I wander out into the front room where the 4 remaining party people sit in front of a TV showing the local network lateshow which just happens to be the last 20 minutes or so of Goal! I'm all, "Hey. This movie is about Newcastle United.", whilst pointing at my Toon jersey. Sure enough, next thing you know they're rushing that kid to SJP and then there's Shearer and everybody. These four strangers are all looking at me (all quite drunk and high) going, "Oh my God. What's the odds of this shit?"
  13. Totally thought this was going to be a new chant or something.
  14. That's where I think a lot of America gets confused (or mislead, depending on how you look at it). Now that the news has become so close to entertainment, what with all the worrying over ratings, subsequently, entertainment has figured out it should act a little more like news. I mentioned to one of my co-workers that while I don't care for his show, I had to admit I thought Rush Limbaugh was a talented radio personality to stay on the air for so long and have the listenership he does. I said, aside from only Stern, I couldn't think of anyone bigger than Limbaugh. Boy, did I have it wrong! Rush isn't a "radio guy" I was informed. He's a "news guy." Uh, yeah. Ok. That's the problem with all those shows, aside from, ironically enough, the Daily Show- they're all entertainment masquerading as news.
  15. No, but to be honest, you might not want to anyway. Friend of mine was telling me he was thinking about getting into LOST after reading some messageboard threads. I told him it ought to be over in another year and a half. If they end it good, LOST will go down as one of the highwater marks in American televsion. If they end it stupid, it'll be a Tonight Show punchline for a week or two then fade into total obscurity. Long story long, we're all the way up to season 5 now. At this point, you're probably better off waiting until the whole thing is done before you start investing time/ dough into buying/ downloading the episodes. If it ends up being a stupid ending, don't waste your time. You can skip series 2, probably the weakest. Word. Seasons 2 and 3 are more or less throwaway at this point except for the bits about Ben and The Others. I guess you could use some of it for Desmond too, but they pretty well explain him in 4. You ever run across that fan edited version of Phantom Menace where some guy went through and edited out all the Jar Jar? I'd love to see someone do that with LOST and only keep the cool stuff. I couldn't care less about the Jack-Sawyer-Kate love triangle, Ben and Rose, Des turning the key in the hatch, and all the "Others ate your baby" horseshit- just tell me what episodes actually advance the main plot and I'd go back and watch them again.

  17. TBH, they haven't had that form in 15 games. Have faith! Also, FWIW, Fox Soccer Channel is showing the game here in the States. Dunno if that helps you lot find streams or anything, but they're broadcasting it starting 4:30pm Central time here. just turn your webcam round for us marra! Reckon I could do my own version of FanZone?

Christ.
  20. Congrats on your team. Still a travesty that we can't get one in St. Louis...
  21. Can you spell out why it is abusing a right? The banners as stated in the article would be distasteful imo, but that is about it. If you have freedom of speech (and demonstration) it has to apply to all to work. I think calling people butchers and r@pists who are just doing their jobs maybe considered as abusing that right, wouldn't you? If I was holding up a placard saying something equally abusive and untrue about someone else I would be, quite rightly, charged. Kind of pot meet kettle, innit? http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...09-2703,00.html http://theopinionator.typepad.com/my_weblo...t-muslim-g.html http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2173613/posts Now, I fully realize the demonstrating Muslims probably aren't the same people mentioned in these articles, but at the same time, I very seriously doubt all those soldiers are murderers and rapists. I'm all for freedom of speech as long as I also have the freedom to say, "Shut the fuck up", in response.
