2meg unlimited £10 month. Can't argue with that for value. On virgin media. I've no need for any more speed, this connection is faster then the 8meg i had on plusnet which just seems a bit wrong, i also paid 3x more for that then i do for this (when you include line rental).

It is kinda sickening when you look at the money. What makes it even worse is that you don't ever see any of it. I bought a house and it didn't involve physically handing any money over or actually going to a bank or anything. Just kinda made an offer and picked up the keys 7 weeks later. It runs normally for a period of time, typically about 45min, sometimes alot more, sometimes alot less. Always boots no problems does games no problems etc. Then just turns off, as if there was a power cut. It did it before i reinstalled windows, that was a reason i tried did it. There was no reason as far as i could see for it to do it. No new components have been added since i bought it 2 years ago.

The basics of this is that my pc shuts itself down with no warning. I know its not a virus as I've reinstalled windows on it, and run it off a linux live disc and neither has solved the problem. Is there anything other then a dodgy PSU that could be causing it?

have you selected the right function on the tv and have you told the laptop to send info out of the auxiliary display port. (if on xp, right click on backround select graphics-> output to).

Just get the right codec packs and wmp will play anything. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XP_Codec_Pack.htm is one example of many, this will also make any player capable of playing the files. Not just one.
