Billy Whitehurst, to be top of the table and play like we did today is disgraceful, in fact appalling.

We were poor against Derby and we were poorer against Wolves, we are getting worse instead of better. With the exception of Darlow and possibly of Clark & Atsu there wasn't anyone who in my opinion put in a decent shift. Yeah, I'm happy with the 3 points, but not the fucking way we got them. We were rubbish.

OK we're in the lead, but what a dismal fucking performance by just about everyone. For a while I thought Shelvey had left the field without me knowing. Diame is being useless. Nitro is a red card waiting to happen. Is this the best Rafa can get out of these players. I hope the second half will improve or you can bet we'll lose.

I get pissed off at the number of passes back to the keeper when it is absolutely unnecessary, and more so when it results from an attacking move and the ball comes back to the keeper from the opponents eighteen yard box.

Gimme a fucking break Benitez, Diame was the one you shudda taken off. He became anonymous in the second half, even a liability. Shelvey was pretty anonymous in the second half too. What a fucking shambles at the end, we couldn't keep the ball at all and it had everything looking like we were going to blow the 3 points again. We should have buried them in the first half, we had more than enough chances. Happy with the 3 points, happy with the first half display, not happy with the desperate ending.

We are getting worse as time goes by and Reading, Leeds, Derby, Huddersfield are closing the gap on us due to our poor performances. We were second best in the first half and not that much better in the second. If you want to blame anyone, blame the ones who kept making mistakes, not just Perez. If we get promoted, and it's now a big if, Lascells is not the man for us, bring back Mbemba. Gouffran isn't either. Pity about Clarke's own goal, perhaps Darlow should have come out quicker or stayed on his line.

I won't be surprised if we don't bring anyone in this window, I think we have strength enough to win promotion if Rafa gets his tinkering correct. The only thing we have to offer at the moment is 'possible' promotion which is not a very big carrot to dangle........and money. With promotion assured it will provide a huge carrot to lure players in during the summer window, and there will be players at end of contracts looking to secure their future careers.

Tweak a little here, tweak a little there. Adjust a tad there, adjust a tad here. That is known as tinkering, but 9 changes is hardly a toon-up!! Promotion hopes are beginning to fade a bit I'm afraid. Sure it was 'only' a cup game but the aim is to win. We have dropped too many points against teams we should have beaten.

Hard to tell how the game is flowing when listening to BBC Newcastle but I certainly got the impression we could have given the lead away. Bit nail biting at the end.

Happy with the win. Happy to regain the lead. But not happy with the overall performance using Birmingham as a comparison. Too many bobbled balls and off-target passing. As a full-back Anita looked like he was there to help Wigan. Rafa, FFS, Perez before Nitro? On 60 minutes it had the appearance we were going to let Wigan score. All in all, it was a really poor performance against a poor team.
