Guest Patrokles
Some nice long GSYBE songs are what you want. That way at least it will take you a while to listen to them! Tried a couple of albums. Not fussed on them. Not a fan of Sigur Ros either (arjen robben or whatever it was called was ok). Too impatient to get to the lovely bit to sit through 20 minutes of preamble. Some would contest that it's all about build-up and release of tension. Personally I have to be in the right mood. Not really a fan of S.R. though. Not against building up to a release per se. But there's build up, then there's 15 minutes of melody-less fuzz. I don't think that's true for GYBE at all, though. The songs were always pretty carefully constructed/composed. There wasn't really anything meandering or melody-less about it. Stuff like Sun O))) or whatever they call themselves, now THAT's somewhat pointless. It's just noise, nothing more.

looneytoon 0
I recently had Davey Jones' Locker by Aidan Baker on repeat for ages. Still not bored of it. I think a lot of what Sunn O))) and other noise merchants do gets lost to a degree on studio albums. They're much more suited to a live setting. I'm not a big fan of any of Sunn O)))'s albums, but when I saw them play live it made a lot more sense to me. Same with Birchville Cat Motel. TheInspiration 1
I can't have any song on repeat all day. There's songs that are stunning when I first hear them and keep replaying them initially, until eventually they just seem unspectacular.
