Santon's biggest problem is his concentration. He switches off quite a bit, and when there's a diagonal ball or a cross he allows the attacker to get across or in front of him and by that time the damage is done. I think a good point about commitment and desire was made aswell, if he showed more when defending he'd be a much better asset for us.

2 Assists is pretty decent for a full back this far into the season, what more do you want?

Debuchy has 1 in 15 games for Lille this season.

We should just give Aries and CT their own little forum.

Newcastle United have made their fourth signing of the January transfer window - France under-21 international Massadio Haïdara.

The 20-year-old left-back, who arrives from Ligue 1 club Nancy, has agreed a five-and-a-half year contract with the Magpies and will take the squad number 19.

Since making his debut in December 2010, the Trappes-born youngster had made more than 50 appearances for Les Chardons, the club where the legendary Michel Platini began his career.

"It was the desire of the club to sign me up which was the most important factor," he said. "It was nothing to do with the league position.

"It was really all about the club's desire and willingness to sign me up. Also, I like the club's ambition to strengthen the whole team so we can improve our league position. That's what appealed to me so I didn't hesitate."

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew added: "Massadio is very highly-thought of in France and he's somebody who our scouting team have been greatly impressed by.

"At the age of 20, he will only continue to get better but he's already played a lot of games in his country's top division and represented France at under-19, under-20 and under-21 level.

"He's strong and quick and we're looking forward to seeing him develop here."

As I've mentioned in this thread I'm really happy about this signing as it gives us some defensive depth and our scouting pool obviously seem to rate him and think that he can make an impact otherwise they wouldn't have signed him.

I'm seeing a bit of Sol Campbell and a bit of Carlton Cole in his face.

Which goes to prove I'm not racist, as clearly they don't all look a like, so that's something.

He looks a bit of a beast. The fact he's been playing regular 1st team football is a huge bonus.

Ferguson, Sammy and Abeid need to be sent on loan ASAP to the Championship and see if they can hack it. Tavernier too.

Looks can be deceiving. Remember amdy faye. Big, black, athletic but fucking useless.

Let's not get carried away until we see what all the new signings are like in the premier league.

Fuck's sake.
