Alex 42149
He was in a relationship with and had a kid with Angie Stone in the 90s and she died in a car crash earlier this year. One of those artists where he wasn’t really my thing at the time but appreciated his talent when I was bit older. Part of that scene back in the mid 90s that fused soul and hip hop. Which I thought was cheese but I now think he was responsible for some pretty good music. His Brown Sugar album especially. Definitely a talented and innovative artist even if he wasn’t your cup of char. No age to be dying of cancer like. Ayatollah Hermione 17238
I remember listening to Black Messiah pretty much non-stop over whatever new year it was released. Just one of those albums that is so ridiculously fully-formed, creative and unlike much else. Far too young but he leaves behind a quality 3 album run

When you look at what passes for celebrity today, I’d say having an Ex-England player and gaffer as Dad would put him at least B-list

spongebob toonpants 5192
I can remember exactly where and when I was when I first heard the 12" version of Tainted Love, and the fade into Where Did Our Love Go absolutely blew my mind One the defining moments of 80’s pop music, and one of the greatest pop singles ever released 2
PaddockLad 22495
Tainted Love was no. 1 the month I first went to high school. I went out and bought the 12" after hearing it on the school bus, I still have it. Apparently him and Marc both separately has the same idea about Northern Soul tracks being played on synths before they met at Leeds Uni... I bought all the early singles, they were magnificent. Him, Numan and Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode were real innovators in synth pop. RIP Dave
