I agree with what you say but on that basis either wear it or don’t. Seems like he wanted to have it both ways. Tbh, I wish people would just say they disagree with homosexuality instead of hiding behind religion. I don’t condone the view but at least it’s honest. I don't think the message showed homosexuality. He still wore the arm band which he didn’t have to do. Maybe it was his way if saying the two are not mutually exclusive which they are not. I think this is the thing with forcing people to wear something.

Now I hate all religions, so each to their own but if he had of put a betting logo or alcohol logo on the armband, he would have been fine and that's fucking ludicrious. I think it is double standards. I 100% agree that religion should not be shown in sport as it is not the place. I don't think players should be wearing a poppy or a rainbow either. I am all for both causes but both are political and shouldn't be forced on people.

And fair enough. Same sec marriage is allowed in lots of churches now, you can be gay and be one of the clergy etc.

He seems to think he can just hire and fire like it’s any other business. Football’s a different animal because there’s a smaller pool of those with the expertise, access to scouting networks and (probably most importantly) the right agents. And while it couldn’t happen to a nicer cunt, if you think someone is the right person for that sort of role then surely you recognise it’s a long term project. He’s been there one window. I know they spent a lot in the summer and there’s not much to show for it on the evidence so far. But what if the new manager gets a tune out of the few signings and they turn out to be good ones? Hilarious though, obviously Yeah I remember a (rare) Mike Ashley interview where he said something along the lines of “if I drop 5/10 mill on a project I expect to see pretty much immediate improvement” it was when Pardew was manager I think. Ratcliffe may well turn out to be Ashley in overalls

Gemmill 63243
Fucking hell I missed the news about Ashworth. I think this is probably quite a big mistake from Ratcliffe and I enthusiastically applaud it. 1
Alex 42155
Ashley was a county squash player when he was younger I think. It’s difficult to believe Steve Bruce was once a top class centre half when you see him now I suppose. Re: the Ashley/Radcliffe comparisons. It’s a sign of his huge arrogance that the latter thought all he had to do was rock up apply some ‘business practices’ and Man Utd would be great again. He’s fired staff and put the ticket prices up. As though that does owt when you’ve got Rashford and Antony on £300k/ £200k a week anyway. Quite apart from making zero difference on the pitch

Gemmill 63243
Re Guehi, @GrahamTaylor5 it seems overwhelmingly likely to me that his "I love Jesus" carried the subtext "so I'm not down with this rainbow shit".

Dazzler 16205
99% of cases where someone is asked about LGBT issues or support and they bring Jesus into the mix for no reason they are homophobic cunts. I’m willing to bet Guehi is no different, although accept I could be a mile off with my assumption.

Gemmill 63243
Well there's a lot of speculation that what he did was homophobic and he hasn't made a peep to put anyone right on that front.

Gemmill 63243
Antonio has had surgery on a broken leg. At 34, that's probably him retired by that, I would have thought. Could have been a lot worse tbf.

Chaser 1919
I personally do not care whether someone is gay or not, people should be left alone to do whatever they want as consenting adults, but if I'm given a choice, I'm not wearing a rainbow armband. I don't wish to promote sexuality in my job because I don't see it relevant in the industry I'm in (yet they push it), same as I don't see how sport should be virtue signalling certain sectors of society and not others. I get that the incessant campaign by Stonewall has improved the acceptance of others, but then I think we've gone far beyond just loving men or women to acquiescing with mental health and trying to see that as normal just because they link it with sexuality. Guehi for me is hiding behind religion but then I don't think any employed footballer would dare say anything different because they'd be cancelled by their club and by the loud vocal minority on social media. I don't think anyone should be forced to promote something else against their will, otherwise all we are doing is shutting down the right to and individual opinion.
Andrew 7482
If anyone IS wondering, Guehis father decided to make the subtext into just regular text this week. Quote Did he offend anyone? He did the right thing by wearing the rainbow armband but people are having a go at him for what he wrote. He was just trying to balance the message. He was saying 'You gave me the armband, as a Christian I don't believe in your cause, but I'll put it on'. Nailed on. Really hope we don't go back in for him.
