 If he honestly doesn’t grasp why people are more interested in movement around the deal than a borderline meaningless game against Sheffield United he’s clueless about NUFC. In fact, does he not realize people are capable of thinking about more than one topic at similar times  we don’t have to just sit about solely thinking about this shit game of football.

He knows what’s going on behind the scenes and isn’t just making shit up as well.

It’s hard to imagine someone continuing to be such a prick in every single interaction considering he’s made to look a right tit all of the time but he’s pulling it off.

He’s a fucking idiot. The best bit is the inference Saudi Arabia are taking steps to to curb piracy but it’s meaningless because it’s after the wto ruling. Like the two parties aren’t in communication, etc. And the Saudis ate just doing this in hope. The ruling itself was fairly nuanced anyway. I doubt Edwards has read or would understand it if he had

Aye, he literally put out a tweet when the Company house information on all this broke saying it was meaningless bollocks because he didn’t understand the bit that sounded to him like Ashley was loaning them money. He took the tweet down after someone explained it to him, then he acts like he actually knows what he’s talking about regarding legal rulings, business, and finance.

Ties in with the notion they’re better on side taking steps against piracy than being snubbed and going all out against the Qataris and not only allowing it but facilitating it in the region. It’s funny how as soon as it became apparent that it might be blocked and the reasons why all the people stopped pretending they gave a shit about the human rights etc

This has to be a great news day for us all round. Three points and pretty much guaranteed staying up, not that we weren't more or less already, but it's nice to get three points in our first match back, and the Saudis are making moves that they were surely asked to do in order to smooth the way for the takeover to be announced. The chances that the Saudis are just making moves against piracy without knowing what effect it will have on the bid seems close to nil.

Especially given Luke Edwards seems to think that’s why they are doing it (i.e. without knowing what effect it will have).

Agree with the general vein of thought here. It's possible it could be a last ditch move to salvage something that they're losing control of but it doesn't seem to have that look of desperation to it. It's far more likely to be an agreement that will run as a prelude to a PL announcement. The Saudis needed to go public first to give the PL the room to approve it.

Who knows, maybe even today's result helped the situation - eliminated any remaining doubt on the Saudi side perhaps about our ability to stay up this season.

Daily Mail adding fuel to the gigantic fire that the Saudis aren't just moving against piracy for the craic. Sauces have apparently told the Mail that it's not by accident that the Saudis are doing what they are doing. Then again I suppose given what sports media is like it's just as possible that their sauces is just them adding two plus two like us. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8445181/Premier-League-nearing-announcement-300m-Newcastle-takeover-come-week.html
