Yeah that's why I think it's not happening, it's largely irrelevant to a potential sale. It appears Ashley thinks his hand will be stronger then. Though a team that was closer to securing PL status would probably strengthen it further. My source reckons it could happen in the next month or two. But it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s all concluded in the close season. The palace takeover took about a year.
