Aye I'd agree with a lot of this. I particular that simply having two capable forwards in place of one that's class but injury prone, and one that is totally buckled, is already an improvement.

Plus money left over from the dealwhen we already had cash to spend. It could genuinely be transformative, but it needs to happen quick or it's another window blown.

I'm not sure where this injury prone image has come from.  In the last 6 seasons he has only played less than 40 games once.  I'd be very happy if all of our players were that injury prone.

He does pick up niggles but I think its really been highlighted by the fact that the drop off in the pecking order behind him has been enormous.

I'm pretty confident that if we sell him in good time, we'll replace him.

Any chance you can lay off the predictions for a short while? ;)

I think we'd be looking for a new manager if we sold him and didn't replace him.

I would say losing Eddie would have a bigger impact than losing Isak

Ok well scratch the injury prone bit (although there's definitely something up with his groin and I'm sure he's had recurrent thigh problems too). I still think having two capable forwards would be better than our setup for the last couple of seasons.

Although I'm definitely trying to look on the bright side cos he's either gonna leave this summer or he's gonna stay in a huff cos no one met our valuation.

Ateod it's just shear greed on Isak's side, with an element of ingratitude. NUFC and Eddie Howe made him the player he is today. Of course he has a shirt career and will want to maximise on that to an extent, but he owes us loyalty in making the transition as smooth as possible for us. As has been said, the timing fucking stinks.

I've never wanted to screw over an ex-employer even when they've treated me badly (mind, that may be more about burning bridges). And this is more than just the club, it's the fans he's screwing. Remember this Alexander?

Not many players will have tarnished their reputation with us in the way he has. Iirc Cole was not the one to instigate the ManU move, for instance. If he lands up in Liverpool I hope he flops.

Whatever he goes on to achieve he'll never simultaneously "pop the football cherry" of how many people? 500k? ever again. He'll be playing for clubs who's fans think they're entitled to win something whilst forgetting the whole gig is fixed in their favour. I understand he'll want to try to win the Champions League which is fair enough but that'll be a Goliath v Goliath thing. I suppose if I was a footballer with no local connection I'd put more value on that. But he won't be able to repeat what he and the other players acheived last season; he'll never get the emotions of a David winning for a change and the esteem in which he's held because of it. He'll never, ever be Dalglish tier at Liverpool. And now he's fucked it here too. Fairly sure that doesn't matter to him too much, as someone said probably the striker in him...

Yeah he picks up bits and pieces I agree with that but he compares favourably to most of our team.  There's only really Bruno, Burn and Schar who have played more than in the last two seasons at least.  He's probably had to play when not fully fit more than he'd have wanted to and we'd have liked if Wilson's form and fitness had allowed.

His last decent game was at Wembley, he hobbled through and was subbed most games after that and missed a few too. Now hes injured pre season. At >£120mill that's a monumental risk; for that money you'd be expecting a world class fully fit footballer entering his prime years. Not potentially a Scandi Coutinho. NUFC could be selling at the absolute optimum time...but he might score 30 next season and those CUNTS might win PL & CL. Hard to say really...  😅

I wonder what's actually going on now in terms of him leaving. Are we now just in a situation where the player has said he wants to leave followed by the sound of crickets?

It seemed from both Downie and the GeordieJourno lads that he's going and it'll be Liverpool. And we won't get 150m for him, probably closer to 100-120m (which I guess Isak is to thank for for taking his desire to leave public). Also, it was mentioned that Liverpool probably needed to sell first, Diaz, Nunez and Eliot were mentioned. As things stand, I think the club would be best to assume he's gone and start ramping up the effort to find a replacement pronto.

What time is it in Singapore? Have the internet cafes opened yet so Howe can get on ICQ and get things rolling? "Hello, Brentford, a/s/l?"

I mean we all hold all the cards. Yes he can strop and all that, but there is no reason we have to roll over and have our tummies tickled. If Liverpool want him then they have to pay what we demand.

Fuck him. Murphy made him look good, without his assists he’d barely have scored double figures.

I’ll always remember that it wasn’t him who scored after that dribble against Everton.

Never liked Ikea anyway. And why the fuck would anyone want to see Abba holograms? Surely the whole point of a gig is to get to see the band in person, then have an awkward chat with them over the merch table later.

We should sell him to one of the saudi clubs for 150 million. I'm sure they could be persuaded to make the bid and afford to pay his wage demands. When he's had enough of weekenders in Dubai and offroading in the desert, they can loan him back to us at a discount.
