Dr Gloom 26353
I’m all for the idea that we’re better off without Isak but I’m struggling to make a convincing case. First striker to score 20 goals in consecutive PL seasons for us. They don’t grow on trees. I’m sure there is life after him however and I want the cunt gone tbh. Can’t imagine cheering for him in black and white again so if someone comes in with the asking price and we have time to replace him, I’d show the snake the door myself. Craig 12383
Allowing how to go is allowing him to get what he wants. In a perverse sense it'd be normalising & validating his shitty conduct. The fuck I want any of that! He stays, and he fucking rots if needs be. One thing is certain for me, he can't be allow to prevail.

If Liverpool come back in it’ll be last minute imo. Can’t see us having time to replace him whatever happens now. Fuck giving in to any of these cunts. If he goes it’s not in this window bar a £150m bid (which isn’t happening imo).

If he's petulant and short-sighted enough to do what he's done to date, I doubt he'll have a sudden personality transplant. No doubt his representation currently sees the protracted situation as minimal damage to their client and significant damage to the club's valuation of him. Of course there is an impact to both, but I think they vastly underestimate the reputational damage they are inflicting on Isak. Eddie Howe is one of the best for looking after, and getting the best out of his players - he'll likely not be that lucky with his next head coach. But if we sign two strikers of sufficient quality and Liverpool - or another club - come back with £150m, he can get to fuck.
Gemmill 63200
If we get the players we need, and it's a big if considering where we are in the window*, I'd still make him stay if Liverpool try to take the piss on price. They know our valuation, so they need to meet or get very close. *we shouldn't be buying this Samu kid who's had one good season in Portugal by the sound of it. Way too much of a gamble, and we shouldn't be taking gambles to help Liverpool and Isak out.

I think Isak might have been a similar longshot - I got the impression the Saudis then decided to say "fuck it" and just went for it. They may do so again for this lad. I recognise I'm cutting my nose off to spite my face but I'd still advocate us standing firm even in the event of the slim possibility we can get adequate replacements in. It's clear his representatives believe they could engineer his exit irrespective of cost - either financial or reputational. One thing is certain, Howe is bloke of massive integrity - the Saudis, even more so (a massive reason they hired Howe IMO) and I can't see either rolling over and allowing these cunts to get their way. Kid Dynamite 9340
Liverpool have fucked us. I'm not sure how Isak rows back from this now. He could have a couple of weeks ago, but the latest "leak" put him past the point of no return imo. I'm not sure PSR limitations allow us to buy an outright replacement without selling him though. Which means we either go into the season with Osula/Wissa as our only strikers, or we sell Isak to find a replacement. If it's the latter I would hope it was to anyone other than Liverpool. PSG and Barca seem like the 2 likeliest options. Maybe Bayern if we can convince Kane to come the other way. If City sell Mcatee and Savinho they might take the piss and put a bid in too. Might be wrong but I'm assuming the reason they want to do an MTA to his contact is to define his exit strategy. I would assume we'd be looking for assurances that it's going to be minimum pain for NUFC - i.e. not sold domestically. Probably why he's doing his nut as he's desperate to go to Liverpool. The alternative is his existing contract remains and he stays on our books with no exit strategy.

Nah, Isak was well thought of at Dortmund and Sociedad then he had a poor season which probably made him less of a priority for other teams. He was also behind Wilson in the pecking order for various points in his first season here. It's only the last 18 months or so he's found some consistency again. Samu is a risk because he's had one good season in a league where Darwin Nunez looked like a world beater

I'd heard of Isak though and I'm not someone who follows football that closely. And he'd looked decent at the Euros iirc. And when we signed him there were people on the Athletic writing articles about how class he was etc. This other kid seems to have come from nowhere, had one good season in Portugal, and they want £70m for him. I mean fuck that. We can't afford a mistake like that with PSR whether the Saudis want to roll the dice or not. Unless they're gonna promise to pay £80m for him to go over there if he ends up being shite.

The PSR thing maybe isn't really a problem, depending on our last two years financial position (we don't have the FY25 numbers but the club will), we can maybe absorb a loss (if we keep him) and shift him before end next June if really necessary, but we could get lowballed further if we have to sell him. But either way he/the murderers have royally stitched us up. Edited August 13 by Toonpack

I think if he fires his agent, he could pin a bunch of the worst stuff on him and say that it was his agent saying this stuff and he was being advised not to offer a counter if he wanted to get his move. Won't be easy to pull off, but if the will was there from the player, I think Howe would do everything he could to engineer a climbdown. Not sure the will is there though. He really has handled it about as poorly as is possible.
