John McGinn with all of them.

Signing a contract with us at half time to rescue the point.

In a mark of respect to Ozzy, we’ll keep this to a mild pounding of the Beige at their place.
0-5.

2 for The Headless Chook

3 for Big Willy Osula, who will cause a minor stir by biting the head off a Beige fan whilst celebrating his hat trick, claiming he thought it was a lifeless mannequin.

Targett to leave the away changers an absolute midden.

Seems that way. Only going by the story but sounding like they’ve been priming the ball boys/girls to hand the balls to the Villa players which is not permitted, and they’ve done it on 5 separate home matches. Also more balls available in the corners that Villa are attacking. Giving them competitive advantage.

I sense a bit of old school shit housing. Not that I expect us to be winning.

It has felt, over the last few years, the home team will get the result between the two of us.

Not doing much today on a lazy Saturday. Figured I'd have a little look at Anthony Gordon's stats for games started at CF for us in the PL.

Not a bad return with 2 goals in 4 games. But they were both goals from the spot. Against City it was a penalty he'd won when brought down by the keeper. Also he missed a pen against Everton.

Ratings for each match:

v Luton 6.44

v Bournemouth 7.4

v Man City 7.36

v Everton 6.01

The Luton and Everton ratings aren't great but there are explanations. Against Luton he was subbed at halftime with a twisted ankle. That was a fucking mental game too, from memory. That was a time in the season where the squad were fucked from all the injury pileup and only just getting players back. Against Everton, he missed a pen, and from memory had a really bad game. He definitely didn't handle the pressure of returning to Everton and once he missed the pen he was never going to recover his composure.

But in the other two games, he played well as reflected in the ratings. (It is important to remember the ratings are boosted somewhat by scoring a penalty in each game.) But still, he played well. All-in-all, I don't think this really tells us much we didn't already know. But, hey I've done it now, so you can all suffer some stat inanity.

Gordon is not a CF, but there are positives. I think we gain having him compared to Isak in terms of defensive output. And Gordon's pace, threat in behind and link up play in transition should suit our gameplan against Villa nicely.

Overall perhaps it isn't the worst game for us to be missing a recognised striker. If we were against a side willing to sit in and frustrate us, we'd probably struggle without someone to slot home the odd half chance. But Villa will attack us and that should leave space in behind them. We should have ample opportunities on the break and overall Gordon should thrive by offering a serious counter-attacking threat.

I'd be happy with a draw to them away from home. Graham's spot on, we tend to trade results home and away. They're a really good team at home and always on the front foot. Never going to tip a draw though. So I'll say that we nick this 2-1.

On the train now after getting a call from the club on Thursday morning asking if I can go. A real ballot winner has backed out. (So there's always a chance!)

First ballot I've gone for, season ticket but no loyalty points.

Buzzing, but no booze in our section 😕

Murphy first goal!

As a positive, that Argie cunt Martinez is suspended.

Actually useful for two reasons as it will also stop Bruno trying to find ways to take him out.

Didn’t Gordon win player of the tournament for the england u21s playing as a striker?

Regardless, if they try and play a high line, him and elanga should get a bit of joy running in behind.

3–4-3 with Barnes, Gordon and Elanga up too would allow us to play deep and spring counter attacks. Can see us setting up like that today. Would also mean Eddie doesn’t have to drop Burn for Botman.
