If we went back to Liverpool then we'd never have gotten the £125m IMO. We'd have weakened our hand and given them what they wanted/expected.

Aye, the way it played out in public wasn't ideal, but that's on Isak and his cunt of an agent rather than anyone at the club.

Also, that cunt would have had a better pre-season and, probably, wouldn't be looking like the useless cunt he is right now.

Both the VAR and on field referee can initiate a review. The fact that neither did is par for the course when you're playing the red cartel.

Aye and I thought the same but we could have gone back to Liverpool as soon as he went on strike, and tried to make a deal.

I know there's a lot of hindsight involved, but we didn't HAVE to wait until the end of the window, and doing so has unquestionably damaged us.

We can’t control what bids are made or what amounts those bids are from other clubs. If we went back and said he’s available then Liverpool and the player would have held all the cards. There were no other bidders so I don’t see how we’d have gotten as much as we did. Then the rat and his agent, knowing our position probably insist on the loyalty bonus too. I think it’s as fair an application of hindsight to say it might have benefited us in the short term but might’ve seen us £15-25m worse off from a PSR perspective. Wilson certainly isn’t offering some magic solution that would’ve made everything better from a NUFC perspective.

I think we've probably arrived at the moment where our first choice CB pairing is staring us in the face. As much as I love Schar and Burn.

Totally agree with this. Two outstanding centre backs in Botman and Thiaw. Botman is without question, our best CB and simply has to play if fit.

Dan Burn is arguably currently England's starting centre half so dropping him would be a tough call. He has been sublime the last 18 months.

Should be enough games to get all 4 plenty of game time anyway. More so with Tinos injury and Lewis Halls lack of match fitness. Thiaw and Burn have both played full back.

I think he played Burn to combat their aerial bombardment. It didn’t work and neither did the overall tactics.

We have the players in midfield and defence to progress to a more possession based game but I think pretty much all the wingers lack that technical a side of their game.

The formation gave us issues in the first half. Burn ended up LB against Saka for big chunks and struggled with him.

I would suggest that, when fit, Hall, Botman, Thiaw and Tino should be our starting back 4.

Can anyone explain this errant fucking bullshit? Where TF are these desperate pricks getting two wins in 16 from? ...

I think Thiaw / Botman was always the plan once they got established. Burn should be rotated with Botman because one has had injury problems and the other is getting on a bit. I don’t want to go back to Burn at LB. Teams learnt how to target him and he’s a fair bit older too.

From his ring piece. I've gone back and looked at our last ten league games from last season - we won 6 of them - even ignoring cup games, we've won 7 of our last 16.

2 wins out of the last 4 isn't it?

He'll be excluding cup games and including preseason friendlies, U21s and the women's team probably.

Is he counting friendlies?

I think he is you know, but if he's counting friendlies then he can't be counting the League Cup, which would be even more stupid because counting friendlies it's 3 in 16

Every reason to avoid football social media, except for this place which seems to have a modicum of sense, and we don't suffer rival team arseholes dropping in that often.

He will absolutely be including friendlies, the silly cunt. I don't even go on Bluesky these days. Between the political/general world news and the total fucking idiots spouting off about NUFC, there's nothing there worth seeing.

I honestly think this is because we're just so abusive that they can't cope. Even before we realise they're rival club fans.

Only saw half of it, alternating with the golf, but what an anti-football bunch of cunts they are, throwing themselves to the ground at every opportunity whinging for free kicks coz they fucked up on the ball, it's an increasing trait in some teams but these take the fuckin piss. The second goal, straight out of their what can we get away with playbook, number2 (timber?) makes a run to block Pope, and Gabriel makes the run we all know is coming, I don't know what can be done in the rules about the NFL style block routines but Pope needed to be aware and avoid him and you needed the right guy(s) in the air around Gabriel, was hoping you'd stick at 1-0, never mind 1-1, then that, fuck!

Who was on var for the pen turnover though? He'll be having a break next week after making a call against a pl/media red-shirt darling...

if Tino didn’t get injured I think we would have won that. Fine margins.

Arsenal deserved the points overall so no real complaints. Just move on and try  to start getting some points on the board.

I think we are in for a bit of slug this season. It could end up being a mid table job.

We have a few players who are below their best at the moment, Gordon in particular, Joelinton also hasn't been his usual self. Overall we were outplayed here, Pope kept us in it and then we scored an excellent set piece goal. For their first it was an incredible header by Merino and for their second they were allowed to put a man directly on Pope and he proceeded to be blocked from making a play at the ball. So even though we were outplayed it was fine margins.

I'm very interested to see how Howe will use Wissa and Woltemade when they're both available.

Neville with the patter of 'oh champions find a way to win and never give up'

Fuck off you boring cunt. It also helps they have the authorities in their back pockets doesn't it? You fucking mong

When fully fit Schär and Botman are the two with the best passing ability who can also read when to progress the ball themselves. It remains to be seen how Thiaw's passing and dribbling are. Defensively he looks solid and reads the game pretty well. AlI agree that the eventual destination will be Botman and Thiaw however both Burn and Schär bring so much to the team that it's tough to leave either out. Personally I believe we need to progress to controlling possession more, especially with Woltemade in the side and with all players fully fit and in form Botman and Schär would be the most capable. Hall and Livramento as fullbacks.

Also why did big Jamal come on when he's our 6th choice?

Presumably for his size in set pieces both in attack and defense, and because Hall was not on the bench.

Neville was commentating on the game like it was taking place in April and the title hung on it. We’re fucking six games in. We were 12th at the start of December last year and finished 5th ffs. A kick in the arse off 4th. Things can and will change massively but Sky Sports is lowest common denominator stupidity for thick cunts so I’m not surprised
