Had a bird strike on the nice bit of the A19 this morning- not a pigeon, we hit those regularly as they’re dumb as rocks, and also flying rats. No, this was a little finch, greenfinch I think. There was a feathery flash, a dull thud, then the poor little fucker landed , dead, on the windscreen wipers briefly, before falling off and probably turning to bird mist. I was surprised as I thought finches were relatively intelligent for birds. Not that it helped this little idiot, as his brain shot out of his arse when he hit the screen. RIP Finchy.
Renton 24792 Posted Tuesday at 12:23 Share Posted Tuesday at 12:23 I've changed my office to a room with patio doors. At least one fucking pigeon a day flies into them at full pelt, the thick twats. Not to sound like that tit from Parklife, I do enjoy watching the small birds around my bird feeder. Robins, chaffinches, bull finches, blue tits.... surprisingly colourful UK birds when you think about it. Also get visits from this chap. Technically a rodent I guess but then so are my pigs.

Car in front hit a pheasant the other week on way up to the borders, Mrs was somewhat upset, now there's a thick bird to rival pigeons, can fly but prefers to be a pedestrian, even when the cunts do fly it's like at 3ft altitude. Stupid foreign cunts. (actually maybe that's the problem and they look the wrong way 🤷♂️)

Christmas Tree 5572 Posted Wednesday at 18:05 Share Posted Wednesday at 18:05 Ended up down a Tik Tok rabbit hole today on good old Elmer Bernstein. What a bloke. The number of belter theme tunes he knocked up is quite staggering. Ended up listening to a few of them performed and it’s mind boggling how the orchestra is put together. Also made me a bit gutted that I’ve never seen a proper big orchestra in the flesh. Would love to a movie theme sort of night. (As long as I don’t have to dress up and wave union jacks) Anyway @Howmanheyman here’s 2 for you to watch with your tea. (But you knew I was going to say that, didn’t you) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=RDG-MVReDrRwo&playnext=1&si=ThX5k5cbiNehf55a https://youtube.com/playlist?list=RD85vYBoiLpuE&playnext=1&si=JHIUym-pb97jb3tE

wykikitoon 24193 Posted Friday at 08:42 Share Posted Friday at 08:42 Well yesterday I finished my first 'week' at the new gaff. I say 'week' as I do four day weeks. I couldn't have asked for a better start tbh. They seem a cracking bunch. The atmosphere in the office is bob on, relaxed but everyone is grafting and helping each other out. Its the first time I have been a manger of someone with more industry experience than me and I was a little nervous about that. However, the lad is absolutely spot on. We did an internal workshop on my second day about the business. The gaffer was leading it but we all got involved. He then asked for someone to stand up and give a small review on the discussion we just had. I thought fuck it I'll do it. I want to push myself out of my comfort zone in this role. Anyways, I did and was bricking it but soon calmed down Anyways, weekend in the Lakes with the lads now and onwards and upwards.

There's nowt better way to win friends and influence people than being the new guy and being a "pushing my comfort zone" linked-in speak twat and getting up and showing off in front of the gaffer first chance you get. I hope if there were areas needing further discussion you said you'd take it offline, circle back and touch base later. 😉

I was asked by someone if I was on Linkedin yesterday and I said no. He asked why and I said it was full shite like 'Whilst dropping off Tarquin at nursery this morning in the Aston, he asked if he could give some of his pocket money to the homeless guy out of the window. It was such a heart warming moment. I then dropped him off with a gold plated nappy and with a glow in my heart' Anyways, after I said that he seemed a little disappointed

trophyshy 7635 Posted Friday at 17:35 Share Posted Friday at 17:35 Wor lass had an interview today. She asked me to help her prepare. I asked ChatGPT to come up with a list of likely questions in that field. The interviewers apparently did the same. The questions they asked were pretty much word for word. Maybe I WILL get a BJ this year after all!

Renton 24792
2 months into my new job, I feel like HMHM and am looking for another one. It's because I'm on a fixed term contract so need to move to another role with a permanent contract within the same organisation. Spotted an ideal opportunity which would be a promotion and is permanent. Anyway, advice needed. This role is quite scientific and academic, right up my street. You're supposed to be anonymised, but I want to make it clear on the application forms I am the first named author in 3 high profile studies. But doing so will inevitably unmask me? Fuck it, I'll do it anyway. So not really advice needed, more reassurance. Also hoping now I'm in the organisation there will be so e funny handshakes and winks, I always felt fucked over trying to get in from the outside but now my foot is in the door no way am I moving it!

Fuck it, really hope I get this. My career has been in turmoil for months now. Just want to get something to last me until I retire in 10 years or whatever. My old colleagues were having an away day in tynemouth last week so I met up with them. I was told I could always go back. Thanks but no thanks hopefully, nice to have a back up though if the worst happens.
Rayvin 6622
I think you're fine. They can go out and search the studies but then that's on them, not you. You're not explicitly breaking conditions of anonymity, especially if you're not directly naming the papers. Good luck man, I really hope this works out for you.
