They’ve got a new album out actually. The Orb that is. Not listened to it properly yet but it gets kudos for the title ‘Buddhist Hipsters’

Aye, I’ve had it on a couple of times, some decent stuff on it, some filler, but it might grow on me.

Came across this today on a playlist. If anyone feels the need try and play it through a big set of speakers and listen to Martin Blunt's bass part, it's like they've turned it up in the mix and the Hammond organ is more in the background than usual and it sounds phenomenal. I had to look it up and it turns out it was originally on the 12" version of the Over Rising EP  which came out in early 91 which sort of filled the gap between the first two albums and comes in at 3 1/2 minutes, this near five minute version looks like it came out on an expanded version of the debut LP Some Friendly.

Thankyou for indulging my vinyl nerdom, please be advised as to the (brilliant) playlist it was on, got to say the new Spotify Lossless is fucking excellent :)

Fair play, that’s got to be the biggest collection of shit music ever assembled

The Stadium of Shite's singing section and their charity shop staple CD "The Sounds Of Inbreeding: Sunderland's Greatest Hits" would like a word

Some of the early ones have some decent pop music on but even they are a proper mixed bag.

@Howmanheyman new single

I was going to post on TT, but then it went bye,

So I thought I’d have a drive in the car, but then it went bye.

So decided I’d watch the mags instead, but they were on Sky

I just wanna cry, I just wanna cry, I just wanna cry (la-la-ta, ta-ta-ra-ra)

Glancing over this thread, you all clearly need a bit more Hellripper in your lives.

I quite like that, mostly a 3rd rate Motorhead rip off but all the better for that :D

I also like this ....

So I'm in an album club with my old work still and it's a really good way of experiencing music you wouldn't normally listen to. Anyway, I can't be bothered to drill down to the context of this post, but it sounds like the structure to Lily Allen's Smile?

And anyway again, her new album, West End girl, is absolutely sublime imo. The narrative arc is epic, the lyrics are brilliant, the music is varied and interesting. Not often you get an album that tells a real life story as honestly as this. Listen to the lyrics of Pussy Palace and get that in your head as an ear worm.

I can never watch stranger things in the same light again either, the dirty bastard.

Try this... think CT smokes bong iirc

Don't know much of Ms Allen's work apart from her single Smile which must be .....at least 15 years ago? Quite liked that. Is the new album full of what we pop crazed youngsters might call "bangers"?...

It's the real life story of her break up with her deviant husband David Harbour  (lead actor from stranger things) and her subsequent mental deterioration. It's brilliant imo, like some kind of graphic horror novel in audio book form set to music.

Here's a lyric sample.

Quote

I found a shoebox full of handwritten letters

From brokenhearted women wishing you could have been better

Sheets pulled off the bed

Strewn on all on the floor

Long black hair probably from the night before

Duane Reade bag with the handles tied

Sex toys, butt plugs, lube inside

Hundreds of Trojans, you're so fucking broken

How'd I get caught up in your double life?

So Lily Allen who paid for sex whilst married to her first husband is claiming she split with David Harbour because of his infidelity?
